Well it happened
and I am so sorry that all of you have to feel the way you feel today. It sucks and it hurts and it was never fair. I don't know what else to say except that I found most of you to be good and honest supporters, you worked hard and you deserved better than this. Edwards deserved a fair hearing and he did not get it. You all deserve a country that really listens to people and their needs and wishes for their future but that has been taken away from all of us.

I am feeling your pain today and sending good feelings to at least help while you figure out what to do.

We need a revolution, this just can't continue.

1. Thanks
Your words are soothing. Life is anything but fair. It's honest - often brutally so - but fair/unfair, no. Life just IS.

9. It would do us all good
to remember that. Those of us who are called idealists can't really accept that, at least I can't, but it is the way it is. We just have to figure out how to overcome this and fight a little harder.

2. We do need a revolution.
And I think that Edwards and Kucinich's voices need to be part of that revolution, in whatever way they can.

It's sad that the two candidates that were -- and are -- most solidly on the side of WE THE PEOPLE got squeezed out; sad, but not surprising.

Thanks, MuseRider.

3. Thanks for your kind words
It is very painful.

Perhaps this will be one more impetus to start that revolution we so sorely need.

10. That is so nice of you
to say. Not always I am afraid! Still I will take your compliment with a smile and a thank you and reply that you are the best, one of my all time favorites. I was so sad when I heard this and you are the first person I thought of.

6. thanks MuseRider
Why did Dennis have to drop out? There is no one to work for now.

Maybe we have to do this ourselves - the nobodies, together.

11. I think you have it.
It has been a stunning change the Democratic party has taken. With the worst, most damaging and partisan President and Congress the Dems respond like this? We had better be thinking quickly.

I am proud to be a nobody with other nobodies like you all. Sometimes being a nobody is very beneficial. Now, who is the nobody with the ideas?

15. people will no "go there"
It is not so much a lack of ideas we suffer from, it is a fear of considering any alternatives that is the barrier.

We cry, lick our wounds, pick ourselves up and then do the same things all over again hoping for a different result.

If the game is rigged - and it most certainly is, and how anyone can continue to deny that is a mystery to me - then why keep playing the same game the same way?

17. And that is it.
We all know, well almost all of us do. Even the people who seem clueless, I hear from them all the time. They are afraid to go beyond what we have in place. Hell, it is hard so it is no wonder. They have more faith than I do though. I have no faith or belief anymore. I could take what they did to Dennis because I knew it would happen, maybe not as much or as quickly or with so much Democratic complicity but we all knew it was coming. When it happened to Edwards it became crystal clear that without a doubt it was the message not the messenger or his/her "wacky ways".

For me it is easy to carve my own path, I always have. I am not however brave enough to lead people. I talk but that is where it stops. It will take someone like us who knows beyond a shadow of a doubt what we are up against who has courage. We also need known people to go with this. I was never certain that Edwards was real but if he is who he says he is he and Dennis need to put aside their differences and try to do something. We are far too gone to let it slide any longer.

Here is a place to get insight into who controls the direction of the party and the liberal narrative - the few, the fortunate.

Edwards was my second choice after Kucinich, and I feel that both of them got a raw deal from the MSM.

8. AFAIAC
the Democratic Party was just as complicit. This whole thing really smells bad. I had a feeling that Edwards would be next after they started ignoring Kucinich, I think we all did. Not only are the Republicans not trying to hide what they do, neither are the Democrats. Where is this so called unity they keep preaching? After they did not stick up for DK and then after that radio interview with Harry Reed I knew it was unity only for those who play the money, pro corporation game. This situation we find ourselves in has really done it for me.

12. It definitely reminds me of the time in early 1999
when I was talking to a fellow resident of my apartment in Portland, a woman who was a major Republican donor there. She told me confidently that G.W. Bush was going to be the nominee in 2000. I hadn't revealed my own sympathies at that point, but I had read what Molly Ivins said about the Bushboy, so I said, "There are a lot of people out there making exploratory bids. What makes you so sure that he's going to be the nominee? He doesn't sound very qualified."

Not a bright woman, she let it slip that the major donors had already been told who the nominee was going to be.

It's all a big charade.

Working on the Kucinich campaign and its aftermath in 2004 ripped the blindfold off my eyes. The last wound was when Dennis was scheduled to speak at the convention. Here he is one of the most inspiring speakers they have, and they scheduled him in the LAST slot BEFORE the nationwide network coverage began, so that only the CSPAN junkies saw him

13. Very interesting
very interesting indeed. I promised myself I would never be so stupid to laugh at the morons that get crowned. I laughed all the way through that election thinking that there was no way possible people would be stupid enough to buy Little Bush**. Enough bought him apparently and the SCOTUS apparently thought Cheney would do a good enough job to officially blow off the constitution and crown them.

I was so pissed that Kucinich was speaking at what, 4AM? He has a good heart and is trying to do the right thing but I can't for the life of me understand why he does just not get out of the party. They treat him like dirt, they treated Edwards like dirt. What is it going to take to get people to see what is going on?

14. interesting
Back in 1999, I had a friend who was a chef to the super-wealthy - oil and financial people in the upper 400 families - and he would pass along overheard tidbits from time to time. He said that there was something astir around the Bush candidacy - they were openly talking about using his presidency to really aggressively crush the left and the working people, and had tremendous confidence that they were going to remake the country in very radical ways and put an end once and for all to the New Deal and liberalism. He had been around these people for years, and said that this was something new and very different than anything he had overheard before.

Guess who he recently saw hob-nobbing and meeting with those very same people? Obama.

Tell me that is not so! I do not care for Obama, I think he is an empty suit with the same unity/divide philosophy that Bush** has (McClurkin for one) who can give a very good speech. I don't think there is much there to back up his pretty message but I never expected this. Very interesting indeed.

19. the game
I can't hate Clinton nor Obama. They are playing the game the way it is played, and they may think that they can play the game and then still somehow do some good. I can't blame them too much, because they are caught in the same trap that so many of us are and have been for so long. The wealthy and powerful few run the country. That is what the historians will say when they look back. The everyday working people know that. Either you recognize that and strongly challenge it, or you must play ball with and get permission from the wealthy and powerful before you can do something like run for president.

I cannot understand why there is even any controversy about that. If we broke out of the trap, the politicians would follow. After all, we are supposed to be electing representatives, not selecting a Pope.

Edwards took some steps to break out of the trap. We then hoped that he would be our savior, that somehow he could win the corrupt game that is designed to prevent people from breaking out of the trap, and while I have the utmost respect and admiration for those who worked so hard for him, I strongly believe that we did not begin to scratch the surface of what it would truly mean to "have his back."

22. I am afraid
that most of us do not even want to think what it would mean to truly have his back.

I think that hoping for a savior, if that is what you really meant, is a huge mistake. We need a leader who represents us or a representative who is willing to lead. I am very tired of the Rock Star - American Idol way of electing leaders. Now we are coming full circle back to where we we started. It is far easier to just do that and feel a part of it all than to really think and know and deal with what is really happening. I can't blame people really for not wanting to think outside of the box that we are in right now.

I don't hate Clinton or Obama but I think they should lead rather than run the way things are now. Surely they know it is wrong. Surely they could speak out like DK and JE did. If they all had each others backs and did it together it would work. That is why I trust neither. Winning is far more important than doing what we need them to do. No matter how pure we think they will be once in office all you have to do is look at their donor list and know that you and I will not be seeing the benefits we should for all the work and faith we put into the process.

23. good points
I agree with what you say here. We lose a little ground each cycle. But people are already using the fear tactics - SCOTUS!!! That is the last frontier now. SCOTUS is not so important. The Abolitionists in the 1850's were up against a Supreme Court under Roger Taney that ruled that Blacks were not human beings, had no rights of any kind, and that slavery was legal in the free as well as slave states. They overcame that. "We have to elect Whigs or the Democrats will appoint Supreme Court judges!" and "at least the Whigs are better than the Democrats" was a failed approach in the 1850's, and it is today, as well.

As Lincoln said at the time...

"Our cause, then, must be intrusted to, and conducted by, its own undoubted friends - those whose hands are free, whose hearts are in the work - who do care for the result."

24. Great quote from Lincoln.
I too fail to see the threat of the SCOTUS. Corporate funding pretty much ensures that a pro corporate judge will be installed. Really, if we were able to overcome the corporate power we would be well on our way back to a better society. Breaking up the large corps would help then finish it off with the Fairness Doctrine and we could move from there. Where we are now is like being frozen like Han Solo. We've got nothing. We have no power, no voice and no choice. A very sad situation and frightening. You can't even get most of your reps to respond to you and apparently the entire country when speaking through their voting does not mean a lot to them either.

Interesting about the SCOTUS in the 1850's. I had no idea. Thanks.
