THE TIME HAS COME TO ADMIT WE ARE IN DEEP TROUBLE
And by doing so, ask what the appropriate response is to what is happening in our Nation right now.

I have been dancing around this idea throughout my thread here, "IF NOT JOHN, WHO", and "Two Americas", by quoting Jefferson, has picked up on it. What do we do as good citizens, if we learn that our votes and our freedoms, are merely phantoms, illusory beliefs, as we are really operating under a strictly controlled environment?

Look at our "choices":

McCain
Romney
Hillary
Obama

Barring yet some other unforseen event, the four above represent the "pool" of talent Ameericans will be asked to choose from for POTUS in nine months.

Frightening, isn't it. Look at who couldn't make the cut on the Democratic side:

John Edwards
Joe Biden
Chris Dodd
Dennis Kucinich
Bill Richardson

See a pattern there? Besides all being immensely talented and head and shoulders above the two candidates left standing, the two remaining candidates are the only two who assure the continuation of the status quo.

What status quo? The CORPORATE domination of the United States. We are in a stranglehold over our society, held by a cadre of Corporations, who will not permit their dissolution, or even a weakening of that hold.

Yes, our politics now proves what I have always said. There is no viable reason I can discern, for John Edwards to have suddenly left the political arena. NONE!
He has cash, support, delegates, and everything necessarey to play deal-maker at a brokered convention.

Add to that Obama's soon to be REZKO affair being highlighted and there is truly, some strong questions that demand answer.

WHY EXACTLY IS JOHN EDWARDS LEAVING THIS RACE???? EVEN JRE DID NOT EXPLAIN IN HIS TERSE REMARKS.

If we don't have any freedom of choice, but the ILLUSION OF CHOICE, what are we to do? You can be sure that all of Bush's rendition plans, the eavesdropping, have all been constructed as contingency plans for anyone that gets too interested in asking these questions.

Afraid yet? You should be. If John Edwards can be silenced, we are silenced. If we are silenced, it has been by people who don't hold elective office.

The rest of this board are mere sheep, and they don't even know it.

Be afraid......

2. Respectuflly ClericJohnPreston,

I refuse to admit we are in deep trouble until the last vote is counted in November 2008.

I do however admit, we COULD BE in deep trouble if we give up. I am holding on to my optimism and hope that if one of our Dem candidates wins the White House, we all have the power to make that person into a good President. We have come a long way since 2000, with more tools like the Internets and grass roots organizations. No President will ever again get away with what this criminal bastard has.

We need to elect more good progressive Dems, and support a Democratic president. I have no idea which one, Hillary or Barack, but they have 4 years to step up, or can be removed.

It's not all doom and gloom -- NOT YET.

I know a lot of people don't agree with me, but that's OK. I just tell them to remember how much we need the Supreme Court.

I refuse to be afraid, since that's what BushCo wants me to be.

Sincerely,
Ms. November

3. And I disagree
I'm not afraid because of BUSHCO, but by the power of those who control Bushco and are the hidden power behind the Presidency. You can't control non-elected representatives of industry who are pushing all the buttons.

Perhaps you ought to read some interesting stories about our frind, Obama. He is a darling of the CORPORATE world and hides behind a facade of a sheepish caharacter. Sure..a wolf in sheep's clothing. People are so easily manipulated , by the simple use of expressions like hope and dreams. If more people were critical thinkers, then Obama wouldn't have made it past the first caucas in Iowa and John Edwards would be running away with the Primaries.

Unfortunately, John had an agenda that threatened those who have invested in the Presidency, as a branch of their corporate investing arm. Thatc made John dangerous, a person to be marginalized, and ultimately frightened off the stage entirely.

If that doesn't make you afraid, or if you really believe you will have a voice, then go ahead and deny history. I have learned from it.

5. I'm not denying any history at all.

Just you take some time to read current stories about how our voices are being heard. There are plenty of them.

4. No, it's not doom and gloom
unless, like me, you're at the bottom of the ladder, and nobody gives a shit in this country.

6. There are many people who give a shit.

I'm lower middle rung and just keeping my head above water, I am very lucky and thankful.

I can also see a very slow movement to bring back people who do care about all of us. It might take longer than one election. We've been screwed for 8 years, or more. Just this one coming election is not going to fix everything. We have lots of work to do. And the power to have our voices heard.

7. We were screwn during Clinton, and I see no hope of that changing, especially
under another Clinton.

It's so easy to blame the RW for everything... The Dems have been just as eager to erase us poor folk from view.
