our days are numbered, I fear
As I feared, it is going to become more and more uncomfortable to speak the truth now that Edwards has left the race.

The thread I linked to below is an example, and there will be more to come like this. We are "naysayers" who "don't believe in magic" and who are speaking "vitriol" if we say anything that contradicts the emotional mind meld going on now.

I gave my opinion there, but I don't think it will be very well received, since the OP puts any potential critics on notice a priori and announces that no matter what any one says, she will never doubt the party leadership again. "Something is in the air" and she "feels hope" and may God help anyone who harshes that buzz.

1. I suspect it will get worse.
I have a feeling that most places on DU will become very uncomfortable for us in the upcoming weeks.

I was watching a clip earlier that I use when I teach Psychology at a nearby Community College. My students always get a good laugh out of it and it serves as a good intro to the discussions of conformity and obedience and the Milgram and Asch experiments. But, for the most part, they find it humorous, whereas I think it is frightening. See what you think...

Keep speaking out, Two Americas. We are here and we are listening.

2. thanks pamela
I am on this really crappy slow dial up and can't get videos to play.

Thanks for the words of support, it means a lot. It is creepy what is going on after that obscene lovefest tonight. Glad to know I am not alone in my reactions to it.

4. That video is totally disturbing...
I did chuckle a little at the guy in the hat...but overall it's really just a sad commentary on most of the people in this country

5. The more things change, the more they stay the same.....none so blind as those who
will not see.......the same 'ole same 'ole.........

The neophytes are heady and giddy and so high up in the sky that when they fall, it will be so painful, they will not return.

The know it all's, that know nothing, will turn quickly and eat their own in self denial.

I would like to see which of those trolls will guarantee a date certain for "universal health care" or a date certain for NAFTA and CAFTA to get a major re-tooling or be abolished.

I will get on my bended knee and pray that I am wrong. I would be glad to be wrong. There is no justice in being right in this matter, with so much life in the balance.

I am too old and too jaded.

6. No, you are just being realistic
I am right with you. I think it is naive to believe that we can 'nice these people to death' or that we can 'wrest power from them with them at the table' (yes, Senator -- I HAVE been listening).

Back when I was in college 20 years ago, I would have argued against the fighting, in my academic belief that companies wanted to do right by their employees, that we were all guaranteed jobs for life once we signed on, and that everyone got a pension.

Now that I have hit the other side of 40, I know they will not give up anything without a fight -- as I have lived Corporate America for the last 20 years and I KNOW what it is like in the real world.

I do not mean to disparage our youth -- as they ARE our future. I am just concerned that they don't really have a grasp of what is realistic and what it is going to take to usher in this Utopia of Hope that Barack dreams of.

He is a true visionary, and I love that about Obama -- but he doesn't have a realistic project plan to get there.

9. My husband lived in corporate America for over 20 years as well and he thinks as you do.

We both do. How it is impossible for people to see the light I do not know! It is as if they have taken soma.I am going to have to indulge in humor and not deal with this so much. Our Democratic Party is suicidal.

7. God can I relate to all you have said
My fear for what is coming is sometimes almost alive. I pray to God that I am wrong and will be the first to say so. However, I see even darker days ahead for us.
