and there are still people posting there on the blog, and they are angry and sad and using it to do things (or at least thinking about it) like we are. I found this site http://edwardshasmyvote.wordpress.com/ that someone there made, and am going to post in GD:P to get it around out there as well...and they are talking about calling the campaign and asking them to make johnedwardsphonebank.com work again so we can still call people for tuesday and encourage them to still vote for John...

But I think one of our writers should come up with an "I am an Edwards Democrat" statement to put on the main page of the cafepress store, whether it's just a paragraph, or maybe a list of "I believe...I am an Edwards Democrat" kind of things...I feel like maybe someone has even already done this, but I couldn't find it anywhere...

So after all that rambling, my point is, we should get our purpose listed onto the Edwards Democrat site, and then share it with our comrades over on the blog...I think they need it right now. And maybe we can start talking to them too and make this an even bigger movement...

1. I like it! Here's what I posted there........

I’m an Edwards Democrat. Actually, I’m an Edwards devotee. I’m a Democrat if anyone asks me - more to certify that I’m NOT a conservative, than anything else. Thing is, it’s getting tough to tell one from the other anymore.

I’ll be writing John’s name onto my ballot in November. A “waste”, you might say? Heh - I have to be able to live with myself. And while you might argue that life is a series of compromises, when the very future of this country (I had to remind myself NOT to say Democracy, ’cause it’s not that anymore!)is at stake, I must vote for the only real chance at taking back our homeland from the very parasites that threaten to suck the last drops of freedom from it’s carcass.
It may be a gesture of futility. It may be as hopeless as being a single drop of red food coloring endeavoring to change the tint of an ocean - but to not execute that attempt is to resign myself to the notion that I amount to nothing when all’s said and done.

3. What we can do

Besides your suggestion each of us has the power to go door to door in our neighborhood and talk to our neighbors about Edwards and why they should vote for him on Tues and in future caucuses and primaries.

I am a Precinct Committee Officer. I am going door to door. Most of the time no one is home, but I leave my own flyer, with my name and phone number, when/where caucus is, and that Edwards can still accumulate delegates, that his compaign is "suspended" and not terminated. That we don't know what tomorrow may hold, so don't jump ship yet. I suggest that Edwards supporters call me for more details.

What kind of response are you getting? Our primary is March 4th. I'll follow your example and do some lit dropping of my own prior to that date. Thanks for a great idea.

6. People are surprised

They had no idea Edwards can still accumulate delegates. I wish I (an other Edwards supporters in my area) had acted sooner, becuase many have become emotionally committed to another candidate or are tired of jumping around from candidate to candidate. But some are responsive.

I also like to send my friends this clip of Edwards. I think it is very powerful. I got it off DU.

Frankly, if more Dems had seen this clip early on, I think Edwards would be in better shape. I think a video like this could have really made an impression at the early stages of his campaign.
