Maryland, Virginia and DC Edwardians
I've been thinking about some ways to try and get more people to vote for John Edwards this Tuesday. I thought up a few things and thought I'd share them with my fellow Md, Va, DC Edwardians and see if anyone else has ideas.

I made a simple flyer that has the words VOTE FOR JOHN EDWARDS FEBRUARY 12th followed by a graphic with "It's an election not an auction" and then followed this with the "inspired" quote. I don't know how to post this flyer online but I am going to print it out and post it around my town this weekend.

I am also going to mail this flyer to some people in my area and surrounding areas. I designed the flyer so it could be folded into thirds with the words, graphic and quote spaced so that each fits separately on its own section after folded. I am going to write a short letter about why it is important to continue to support John so that his message will not be forgotten. I'll also include info about how the media and corporate interests shut John out of the process and encourage the recipients to take a stand against these entities by voting for John. I'll print this message on the other side of the flyer so that I'm just mailing one page.

I came up with a pretty cool way to target who I will send these letters/flyers to. I went to http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/
and put in my zip code and also some nearby zipcodes. There I found the names and addresses of people who had donated to Edwards. I may also send the flyers to people who donated to Richardson, Biden etc.

Anyway, I just thought I'd throw this out there. I wish I could post the flyer but it's really not that great anyway. If anyone here is more talented in that area and could come up with a flyer, that would be great.

I know I'm tilting at windmills but I don't care. Hillary, Barack and the DLC aren't going to do shit towards promoting John's progressive/populist agenda unless we continue to show them that our votes have to be earned.

I won't be online much today but I'll check in this afternoon and see if there are any more ideas or if anyone can help come up with a flyer that we can all use. I love the stuff Iris came up with the other day so maybe I'll pm her later if she doesn't see this.

Thanks for reading this. :)

1. Pamela, this is an outstanding example of thoughtful grassroots politicking. Thank you
for posting your process and how you determined the people you would contact.

This is something we call can do, effectively.

Good job!!

3. Hi Ninga!
:hi:

Thanks for your kind words.

After I posted this this morning, I found a better way to find Edwardians on that Fundrace link. If you go to the fundrace map, you can zoom in and out on a whole area, state, city, etc and just click on different points rather than list the different zipcodes individually. It was much faster that way and I was able to hit areas where I didn't know the zipcodes.

I shouldn't have just titled this for Maryland, Virginia, DC folks because this is something that could work for upcoming states, too. I'll keep trying to find a good flyer online if we can't find someone here to make us one. I wish I had better skills in that area.

2. Thanks for this effort ! All the Virginia Progressive bloggers
seem to be in the Obama camp :( I think they looked into his eyes

I've been contacted by a few of my friends (from the Jim Webb campaign) who sent me some sweet condolence messages after JE suspended. Then prodded be into coming over to OBAMANATION. Sadly, it's an anti-Hillary effort, not pro-Obama.

4. Hi Catchawave!
I'm not ready to switch to anyone's camp and it frustrates me that so many people are switching so quickly. I want to put up a fight because it already seems as if Hillary and Obama have decided they don't need our votes. There is no way I'm giving them my vote in the primary and they are going to have to earn it for the GE.

I wouldn't give up on Virginia progressives yet, especially not the ones who donated to Edwards. Maybe they just need a little prompting to vote their conscience.

(Totally off topic here, but do you ever go to Chincoteague? I go there pretty often and even have a little bit of my jewelry in a very cool store there.)
