This is probably the only safe place to admit this, but
since John suspended his campaign, it's like I really don't care anymore who the Dem nominee turns out to be.

I'm going to vote for him or her, regardless. I'd be a fool not to. But I find I don't have the slightest enthusiasm for either; and specifically, not the slightest willingness to campaign or advocate for them.

(Bad Mac. Bad, bad Mac.)

I guess I'll put my energy into Congressional races.

1. Glad to know...
that I'm not the only one feeling that way. I hate this feeling of indifference...

2. Same. I'm horrified that if a gun were put to my head, I'd probably vote
Clinton.

11. Really??
I'm just not sure. I understand the gun to the head thing, but I can't help but feel that Clinton stands for many things that JRE fought against. It may be my ignorance, as I've not paid enough attention to either of the "celebrity" candidates...

19. That is what you have left.
A bunch ipod kids who may (or may not) show up for the General Election have run off the party faithful because of their unfettering rock star support of Obama.
I am pretty concerned because isn't American Idol starting up soon? I hope they don't get too distracted.

5. It's a real shame
I can't possibly think of going out and working for either one of these. I can't be a hypocrite and canvas and phone bank for people I don't believe in. I certainly won't be sending them any more money.

In 2004, I was so disappointed when Kerry got the nom instead of Edwards, but once he had it, I could enthusiastically support him. He wasn't my first choice, but he was a good man. And when he picked John for VP, that certainly helped.

I worked so hard on that campaign, I really ruined my health. I live in Ohio and got to see it stolen up close. I was so looking forward to this year and taking it back. Now I just don't care. I don't want a Republican, but it seems like it's just going to be a DINO v. a Repub.

It's just plain sad.

I'm putting my energies into fighting for the democracy in my own way. I've given up on this party, but I can't give up on the country, just yet.

BTW, Thank you to whoever gave me the heart! How sweet of you...

6. I'm less than thrilled, too
For the last four years, this election is the only thing that has kept me going. The hope and belief that we would put a strong Democrat in office to undo the damage that Bush did gave me heart - and now this. I don't even know how to choose a worse case scenario. I guess McCain would be the worst case since he seems to want to "bomb, bomb Iran", but the two Dem candidates are, IMHO, pretty lame.

This is one of the most important elections in our history, and THIS is the best we can do? After a life of waving the banner for the Democratic Party, this baby boomer is done.

10. Like you I'm not enthused by either of the candidates
And their freakin supporters are driving me away with every damn post they lob at each other in GD-P. I find I stay out of that area for the most part these days because the area has become so toxic.

I truly don't know what I will do come Nov. I wanted to vote for John in the May 6th North Carolina primaries, but now have learned that the stupid State party Dem leader Jerry Meeks has removed his name from the ballots. :grr:

Now I'm upset all over again.

even if I have to write it in. New York is blue, so it doesn't matter one way or another.

16. So good to be among friends ...
... because I feel the same way as y'all. I have never been caught up in the "politician as messiah" meme and am repulsed by the adulation lobbed at Obama. (Not that I have anything against him - seems like a decent enough man but I feel he is very much a blank slate - projecting what is going on around him right back at people.)

To me, John was the ONLY one who stood for something, even if others didn't feel the same. I liked that in him. And now that they've removed him from the race (and one day I hope I get to know what really transpired there), I feel like we are left with what "THEY" have chosen for us.

It's all one big power game (always has been - don't know why I think it will ever be any different) and those that try to buck that system (JRE, Kucinich) will never be allowed entrance to the game.

I will vote in November for whomever the candidate is but I'm not liking it at all. Right now, I'm about as disillusioned as they come.

17. Very good points
I agree so much with what you have said. It is one big power game, and not a democratic process that enables us to choose our nominees. People better wake up and stand up before it's too late.

And welcome to DU and the Edwards Supporters Group, mysticalchick! :hi:
Glad you're here!

18. I'm there with you, mac

For the first time in my (long) life, I don't give a rat's ass. I'll vote Dem as the lesser of the 2 evils, but my heart isn't in it. Sadly, I think that this year the Dem party has lost many of us who were the worker bees.

I sure miss the real hope John Edwards gave us.
