E-Cast: Edwards On Issues Not Brought Up in the Debate
E-Cast: Edwards On Issues Not Brought Up in the Debate

Senator John Edwards will talk about the issues that were not discussed during this week's Democratic presidential debate - the issues of race, gender and income inequality in America, and the politicization of the federal government by the Bush Administration.

The debate, which was held at South Carolina State University, a historically black college and the same campus where three civil rights protesters were killed in 1968, provided an important opportunity to discuss race, equality, or the growing divide between the haves and have-nots. Today, America has the greatest income inequality since the Great Depression, where the wealthiest one percent of Americans earn 19 percent of income and the wealthiest one percent of Americans hold more net worth than the bottom 90 percent combined. John Edwards believes that too many Americans are separated by the opportunities of our country because of their race, gender or income.

You'll also hear about the tour he took of Allendale, South Carolina, the Two Americas that still exist today, and his plans for bold change. Before the debate on Thursday, Edwards toured Allendale, a predominantly African-American community and one of South Carolina's poorest towns, where he talked directly to members of the community about the challenges they face.

During the debate John Edwards also hoped to discuss the politicization of the federal government. From the war in Iraq to the firing of U.S. Attorneys, we've watched as this Administration has used the federal government for its own political purposes. On the E-Cast, Edwards will renew his calls for Karl Rove to be fired and for Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to resign.
