Did you all know that the Edwards blog has been pulled?
I just went over there to see what was happening and there is NOTHING in the blog section! I never posted over there, because I'd been holding out for Gore for the longest time, even though I've always liked Edwards. By the time I jumped with both feet into the Edwards camp, his campaign was almost over. :argh:

So, does anyone know what happened to the Edwards blog? I'm really upset to see it go, especially since there was information about the voting abnormalities in Iowa there. I did manage to find some of it cached on google which I screen captured, but I must admit I find this disturbing to say the least!

1. here is a new site to go to..yes they posted that the blog was closing ..but here:
As One Door Closes…A New Blog Opens

Beginning with the news this past week that the JRE Blog was going to be closing soon, a core group of us (PatriciaW, Blue Waters, Lataet, Poligirl, and LMorgan) began working toward starting an alternate site for us to gather at in the future.

Now, albeit hastily, the future is upon us and in response we have put up a temporary blog site to keep us joined together. We are ready to walk through a new door of opportunity as we continue our efforts to move forward the important issues that originally brought us all together.

Please join many of your fellow supporters at our new blog site located at http://johnedwardsmovementcontin.smfforfree4.com/index.php

This is an online community of like-minded individuals who wish to continue in a serious (and sometimes fun!) manner to bring our complimentary talents and strengths to the virtual table. We will strive with the power of WE THE PEOPLE to push forward the most vital of issues as identified by John Edwards in an outpouring of efforts across the United States of America . Please join us to continue adding to the collective voice that will make a difference!

Sincerely,

Members of the John Edwards Movement Continues

2. Thank you!
I appreciate the info and will check it out. :hi:

But my question remains, why did they have to scrub the site clean like that? I find it disturbing because threads about the busing in of voters to Iowa are gone, unless you can find them on google. I found some, but not the one I was looking for. Information down the memory hole...again!!! :argh:

3. You can still find the posts
They are available on the internet if you click on the "cache" link when you goggle. But you have you know enough of the words in a post to pull it up. My last one was Fairy Bread (for Elizabeth). If you goggle that and hit cached, you will find it. Everything is still there including the Iowa busing stories.

We only got about 24 hrs notice that it was being taken down. There was a frenzy of saying goodbye and people trying to post places to go. I signed onto Lataet's board (above) but haven't had the heart to post. It was beyond sad for those of us who were there all the time.

Also, some folks had programs that were trying to copy the site. I don't know if it worked but you might ask on Lataet's "movement continues" board. And I'm certain the campaign kept them. I forget who ran the board but it was the best I've seen - the voting, the categories, the way it was laid out...

But it left like he did, suddenly and sadly!

6. I checked out the new board too, but haven't the heart to post yet either.
I was hanging on to the word "suspended", so the closing of the Edwards totally blindsided me.

Guess I'm ever the idealist, as you can tell by my Gore avatar. :(

4. Here's a post on Iowa abnormalities
I googled illinois people caucusing iowa johnedwards and then hit "cached" under the entry. Otherwise, it doesn't come up. But here's some information for you on that issue. SO MUCH great info on that site!

Students Bussed in from Illinois (none / 0)

I spoke with a precinct capt. in IA last night..she said she saw tons of new faces at her precint's caucus in IA, and she recognised none of them...She had canvassed her entire precinct before the caucus, so she would have a good idea of who is in her precinct, right?

She also says that students from IL and IN were paid $250 each and bussed into IA for the caucuses. She heard several of them saying they lived out of state on the night of the caucus.

Is there any way we can get this info. to someone? The public needs to know about this.

8. I can sort of answer this
When I was on a conference call with John and Elizabeth Edwards, EE said that the blog was not going to be feasible in the long term. They made it go dark as they didn't have the staffing (money) for it. 3-4 FT staffers, plus 5 volunteer moderators made that blog run (I was one of those volunteers). Also, for legal purposes, they had to make the blog go dark as well. I don't understand all of the legal issues, other than the nature of the discussions, but I'm not an media or social networks expert nor a lawyer, so I cannot answer fully what that means.

I wrote the Online Communications director and suggested they find an archival home for it. He said until it is audited, it has to stay dark.

It was a sad day when it went dark, but at least the website is there, and all kinds of Edwardian communities are springing up, just little feeders do when the heart needs them.

The one mentioned on this thread I had not heard about, so I will check it out.

Otherwise, a good list, with some annotation, is at Southern Hope.

I think there will be a new website for OneCorps eventually, but when, well, TBD.

Anyone is always welcome to drop by my blog, Benny's World and say hello. I continue to post some news about JRE when I get it, and anything that keeps me inspired in the memory of that great candidate and his family.

10. "John Edwards Movement Continued"
is a jumping and focused forum, a blog already into political action and carrying on in John's tradition. Most are the same people who posted on JRE site and blog -
