2. I Couldn't Sign the Petition
I went to the website intent on signing a draft John Edwards
petition. However, when I read the particulars, I was unable
to sign the petition. I will not agree to vote for someone
other than the Democratic ticket without knowing who that
"someone other" is. Should John not be drafted, that
would leave me voting for John McCain or someone of that ilk
which I will never do.

My choice is JRE for president, but if I can't vote for him, I
will not lock myself into voting for someone as bad as the
present occupant of the white house.

Sorry.

19. Perhaps you could sign THIS Draft Edwards Petition !
This is a Petition to Draft John Edwards that is different in intent and wording than the Petition you refused to
sign. While I do not say the other one is wrong, I would encourage you to take a look at this one.

It is not against the Democratic Party nor does it in anyway talk about a New Party.

It simply states that we wish to Draft Edwards.......so that our voices will be heard!

Please check it out!

Thanks so much.... http://www.draftedwards.org

3. I'm very much with this, but not going to put my name online.
I've already been stalked by a DUer, and I can't afford to take that risk anymore.

I decided in 2004 that what is outlined in the petition is where I stand, so... here I am. :)

7. I can't sign this.John would never agree to form another party! He is a loyal Democrat.
And you can't force elected officials to nominate John. They haven't the authority. This is a really strange petiton.Sorry.I would love for John to be 'drafted" but this doen't read like a 'draft" to me.

8. I guess you're right.
I signed it, but probably no harm done, right? I mean it probably won't get far.

9. Do you think John will remain a loyal Democrat if the party continues
to ignore the needs of those who have been left out? Just curious what you think. It is noble that he is faithful like that, but ultimately will his dedication continue, I wonder, if the party continues to behave like it has been?

10. The party has changed
Maybe he'll come to question whether it still reflects his values and beliefs. I am looking forward to seeing what he does in the coming months.

I think the final straw point has been reached.

12. What are the Dems now anyway?
I sure don't feel that the leaders in the house and senate have been listening to the people, they are only concerned about keeping their power. I was so excited Nov 2006, only to become so disapointed by the lack of action, giving in and the triangulation. The number of new Democrats that are more toward the center are not the ones to tip the balance from the republicans. And as for loyalty, all I have to do is look to Ned Lamont. That's why I don't really want to see him endorse anyone because both have flaws that are in direct conflict with his ideals and platform. I hope he continues to go the way of Al Gore

a nitwit who think he can win with a 3rd party...leave that to
the Nadars of the world. As Democrats, we have a right to mold
the party to represent us and our concerns. If there is a
legitimate "draft John Edwards" movement, I will be
the first to join...but just to bad-mouth the party and make
sure that a republican stays in the white house, no thank you.

17. Well, I don't think it accomplishes that goal. I would like to see a real draft Edwards movement.
But I think we may have left it too late. Sigh.

18. I think the best we can hope for is
to get his platform adopted and a cabinet position for John, if we get really insistent and a lotta lotta signatures on the petition,
This country needs him in this govt. to straighten it out.

But they are not going to make him president no matter how many signatures to
draft him we get.
