Anyone else giving thought to turning off the news and radio for at least 8 years in the event
of an Obama election? I really never want to hear his name again. I am sooo sick of him and his followers.

6. I am a HUGE fan of Keith Olbermann, but
I have to admit, I haven't been watching his show at all lately. I guess I am just so fed up with the elections, the fighting and Hillary, but mostly I'm fed up with Obama and his fanatical followers. They are rude, crude and socially unacceptable in all ways. If you speak against their God, they will chew you up and spit you out. Well I am sick of the lot of them and have no wish to even view the smallest story about Obama or them. Their crazy fanaticism is too close to the way Bush supporters acted in 2000 and I just can't deal with them anymore.

I know in my heart we need a Dem voted into the office of President, to keep from losing the Supreme Court noms, to fix the damage Bush has wrought over the last seven years and for other reasons, but I am just sick of everything. When John Edwards suspended his campaign it felt like someone socked me and I loss all my air.

Now I just want it to be over. :(

And he's a Republican too, can't stand McCain, I can't repeat what he thinks of H and O, though he did like JRE's national security and promise to the veterans policies, very doable.

What news? I really can't learn about the candidates with titilating soundbytes, I get more information getting hammered in GDP  Even Olbermann should end his show..instead of "good night and good luck" with "fired up, ready to go". (h/t to sgary at the eenrblog) Sigh, I miss my keefer most of all :(

5. The worst is when Obama adopts a fake southern or urban accent
with certain audiences; he sounds nothing like that during debates. It sounds so phony and condescending. It's almost as bad as listening to Bush's malapropisms, except I do think Bush's come from genuine idiocy.

13. has anyone noticed how quiet it is overall on DU?
looks like they've finally shouted down all opposition to obama. looks like they are the last one's standing. seeing all this strife, hearing all this vitriol, makes me feel that this rift is so wide and the cuts are so deep that they will not be able to heal the party (or DU) once this is all over. most of the edwards people have left for other more receptive venues, so have most of the kucinich people. one by one the groups seem to be exiting. does anyone here think this has happened to DU by design? i think this board has been infiltrated by freepers, and they have destroyed it. look around. there's trash everywhere, spilled soda bottles, and all i hear is the repetitive sound of white noise coming from a tv that no longer has any reception. MSM has killed this place dead.

for me, IT'S GETTING LONELY OUT HERE! I miss John Edwards and his upbeat message, his enthusiasm, his charisma and charm! I miss Elizabeth with her forward thinking attitude, her fortitude, her intellect and her SPUNK!

I'm lonesome and lost and DU sucks these days. What shall we do?? I have my COLORFUL Edwards Bumper Stickers stuck here and there... other places BESIDES my car, and they WILL STAY!! I HAD to take my yard sign down because it was getting so faded and I wanted to keep it. I gave one to my neighbor and told him he needed to "salvage" it! Here in Florida... we've had so little rain and it IS the Sunshine State so I'm keeping my posters inside too!

They reached out and touched me, and my heart still yearns for what SHOULD HAVE BEEN!

Okay, I'm done for now!

15. Where and how often you get news is your call, saracat.
Many Democrats, numbering in the many hundreds of thousands in fact, have chosen candidates other than the one you and I might prefer to have won.

As Democrats, we are not better than those voters, but equal, and our judgment in the nomination race is not better than theirs, but equal to theirs, except in sheer arithmetic, where theirs was decisvely greater than ours.

John had not run. I find Obama slimy . And if he wins I really don't want to be involved with , or have to listen to anything about him.I was just asking if others felt that way. Some do, others don't.Probably not much I can do about it either way. I am sure he will be shoved down my throat either way.I will have to pursue other interests.

18. Are you saying I have to leave DU if I dislike Obama? I do not have to post anything about Obama
once he is the presumptive nominee but no one can control my thoughts! There are many DUers who don't like certain Dems and they don't leave. Look how many hate Bill Clinton. They will keep posting trash about him no matter who is elected! And as for the "other interests" those weren't political. My life does not have to revolve around Obama. Geez. What is up with some people?

20. No, you said that. Your candidate and my candidate got out-flanked
by two other candidates.

You are on a powerful dismissive vibe on one of those candidates.

Stay as long as you want but if you slam the nominee, as the admins have indicated, you're gone.

What is UP with some people is that we have an election ahead of us. I'm suggesting that your blasting Obama isn't going to advance the common interests of Democrats or Americans.

Post-Edwards Democrats may remain neutral, or support Obama or Clinton, or someone else if they choose. But your posts of late in this forum suggest that you've just gone overboard with your negativity on Obama. I don't sense any of the open-mindedness at all that used to characterize your threads.

some of our other interest groups. And I will always like my Edwards people. Have you perhaps noticed that I am not alone in my feelings regarding Obama?? I do not start any threads attacking him however.I a occasionally do respond on certain threads. You seem to indicate that I do not have the right to have "a powerful dismissive vibe" regarding Obama.

My blasting or supporting any candidate on DU will not have any effect on the actual outcome of this election. This is merely a group of interested partisans expressing their feelings during the primary season.I doubt any votes are influenced by anything one says on this board.

As far as my not being "open minded". I examined each of the candidates. I actually began this process with Edwards as my first choice followed by Obama , followed by Biden, followed by Clinton as a very distant fourth.I actually did not like Clinton at all.She still would not be my optimum choice but I feel she is miles above Obama. I have come to really respect how she has had to handle all the tripe and sexism thrown at her. After I thoroughly researched Obama , I found I could not support him. Those who will not even consider his flaws are the ones that I would consider to br the narrow minded ones.I actually was open to Obama until he proved not worthy of my consideration.

"Post-Edwards Democrats may remain neutral, or support Obama or Clinton, or someone else if they choose."

I am glad we have your permission but who is this "someone else " you refer to/ We have only two candidates left in this race.I can only hope that you are referring to congressional or Senate races. I wouldn't think you were directing us to another party! LOL!

In any event, I do not know what about my disliking Obama concerns you. I feel I have a right to express my opinion. I am not effecting an election. When we are alerted as to the presumptive nominee, I will no longer have any comments on whomever that may be! Cheers!

26. Depends on what you mean by "slam"
Per Skinner's sticky thread:

...
"WHAT WILL HAPPEN HERE ON DU WHEN WE HAVE A PRESUMPTIVE DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE.

Let me be clear: We expect our members to support the Democratic nominee for president. This expectation has been written into our rules since as far back as 2002, and we aggressively enforced this rule in 2004 after it became clear that John Kerry was the presumptive nominee. In other words, this is not a secret. If you are at all shocked or surprised by this, then you have not been paying very close attention. Don't even bother trying to convince us otherwise. This was decided long ago, we've already heard all the opposing arguments over and over a thousand times, and we're not going to change our policy. Here is how this will work:
...
As usual, we will continue to permit constructive criticism of the Democratic nominee and of other Democratic candidates and officeholders. We will also continue to permit sincere, non-disruptive expressions of ambivalence toward the nominee. But we will not permit politically motivated attacks designed to tear down the Democratic presidential nominee."

I hope Saracat and others will feel free to make this constructive criticism any time they wish.

can't and WON'T jump for Clinton or Obama! Just because we may NOT want either candidate DOES NOT mean we are "outcasts" or that we should LEAVE DU!! You were once a great supporter of Edwards and I find it strange how EASILY you switched! There was a time I respected your opinion a lot. At any rate, YOU are posting HERE at the Edwards Forum!!

What were you expecting?? Just because we maintain OUR LOYALTY to Edwards you seem to think we should just "go with the flow" and "follow the leader!"

Seems like we've done that for FAR TOO MANY years, and there are some of us who actually prefer to stand for something we BELIEVE in! And lately, IMHO Barack Obama has gotten overly "cocky" with his new found STAR POWER!!

You Sir, are a disappointment to me. Why are you posting here anyway, since you jumped on his band-wagon???

Senator Edwards has withdrawn from the race.

I don't see rationale for abandoning the things he believed in and inspired us to believe in.

Choosing one of the two viable remaining candidates is a logical and practical response.

Cheers.

28. Hey saracat. I hardly ever listen to the news anymore, especially since January.
I'm with you on the dissatisfaction with our two choices. And constructive criticism has to be allowed. It appears that O.C. is on a mission to try and gather up some of us staunch Edwards populist/progressive kind of voters and take them into the Obama fold. I for one am not budging. I see four more years of the same crap, only this time the watered-down version the Democratic party is giving us. Then there is the scary reality of the new powers the next president will have. What will the wonder "O" do with those powers should he become president? We can guess at the horrors of a McCain presidency with those powers. I will stick to my populist/progressive guns and support those candidates running for local and congressional offices with those values. Obama or Clinton will likely get my "X" in November, but I will be doing so from years of habit and I will most definately be holding my nose.
