Okay, this just makes proves the bad feelings I have about Obama

I read this article on CNN that I thought every one should read. I've already stated how I feel about Obama, now I'm really angry. This is just not right.

1. I get much of the same from

my fellow black democrats who cannot believe I don't worship at the feet of the Saviour Obama. They ask me why, and I tell them..."he's an empty suit who says nothing of substance". I ask what they like about him and they say "its about time we had a Black President". You cannot argue points with that kind of hero-worship. But they will likely find out the hard way about Mr. Obama...he's neither progressive or what they THINK he is. It is very discouraging.

2. I think the John Lewis switcheroo bothered me more....

as a long time Clinton supporter, he's listening to his district, so he flip-flopped ?

Does this mean Kerry and Kennedy will switch to Clinton since she won Massachusetts ?

Since I don't have my fallback candidate yet, I'm certainly paying attention to the people they hang around with. I'd like to think that's a peek into the new administration.

My bar is way too high after Edwards :silly: I'll pull the lever for the Dem in Nov, but I still won't be happy.

3. and the fact that Obama hasn't said ANYTHING about it

When pressed, he denounced Louis Farrakhan's support and his anti-Semitism. When is he going to denounce the strong arm tactics and threats being made by his supporters?

just as bad as voting AGAINST them for the same reason?

6. It's really despicable to me that race is being used by Obama supporters like this.

He should immediately denounce such activity. It is typical behavior from him to be silent on this matter. I would expect a presidential candidate in his position to rise above such easy and low tactics. If someone like King were running for president this year instead of Obama, I seriously doubt he would stoop so low.

7. I don't understand this

I thought we had come further than this - at least the Democrats in this country. I pick my candidates on the basis of their integrity and their stands on issues and their proposals - race and gender have nothing to do with it.

I'm a woman and I would love to see a woman president - but only if she were the best candidate. If Hillary were to be elected (which seems increasingly doubtful), I couldn't take any pride in that. In fact, I worry that if she were elected and didn't do a good job, it would set back women's rights.

I'm not African American, so I don't know what I would feel about Barack if I were, but my guess is I would feel the same. Perhaps some African Americans think that with Obama as president, their issues would get more of a fair hearing, but I really doubt that. Like Clinton, he seems far too corporate to be concerned about regular people's needs, regardless of their race.

I'm really glad to see this in the article:

"With all due respect to my colleagues, whoever you are, I firmly believe if you don't have loyalty and integrity, what do you have? ... I am a woman of my word. I will not leave her," said Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones.

I've always had a lot of respect for Rep. Tubbs Jones and I'm glad she's not disappointing me.

I was talking to a friend of mine at work the other day. She is African American. She was an Edwards supporter and is very unhappy with the remaining choices. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't vote tomorrow. She said something that really struck me. She told me that she is disgusted with many of her African American friends and family members who have turned against Obama because they feel he is too conciliatory toward white people.

Why is this turning into a race and gender election? I feel like we are back in the 1970s.

8. It's just becoming yet another American ugliness.

Everything is infected with the lies and corruption of corporate greed. "African American" I think is just being used here as a strong selling point to get this candidate who will work for the big corporations elected. They are playing up every angle they can to win. He has been groomed from the get-go. I really hope I am wrong, but everything about this guy stinks to me. As long as the fascists are running the game and are able to fool so many Americans, we will be suckered into believing that we are at a historical point of change for this country, when actually it is just more of the same with a "sugar-coating." I don't see anything progressive about Obama. Like I said, I really hope I'm wrong about all of this.

is even worse. Her thesus was embargoed for a reason the excerpts from it spell out how she feels.

toward white people. That is what my friend said she had been hearing from many other African Americans. I don't know what they base that on. My concern is that no matter which way people twist it, they are making race an issue.

and these super delegates could negate what the elected delegates do.

i know one super in my area..that is a scum bucket..and i damn well don't want that person picking my president!
