I'm not any more enthusiastic about Obama or Clinton than when Edwards dropped out before Super Tuesday, but the number of people voting in the Democratic primaries is giving me at least some hope that McCain won't be the next President. It's not counting today's results yet, but so far, over 63% of the voters have gone to the Democratic primaries, and only 37% to the GOP. Here's hoping that something close to those percentages holds for the GE. The only way we can get past the GOP's dirty tricks is to win by an overwhelming margin.

when i was working the Edwards camp in SC..so many doors i went to ..they would laugh and say..oh no we can't vote for John..our ..fill in the blank....church, pastor, bishop , friends..family told them to vote Obama to stop hillary...it has been going on across the board in red states..haven't you looked at the numbers in red states to see how high the voting is for Obama..

i live in Fla and i can tell you..floridians will vote McCain before they ever vote for Obama!..sad but true...and i was at my pool yesterday here in fla and talking with approx 30 elders..and each and every one said they will not vote for Obama..

I hear it from Dems down here..alot of them!

2. Well maybe, but

More people voted early in the Texas primary than the total that voted in 2004. A third of the votes being cast are by Hispanics, up from about 25% last time. Blacks are turning out in large numbers. They only make up about 11% of the population, but they're casting 20% of the votes. Of course, there are plenty of GOP supporters who just aren't voting in the primary because most of the races are basically uncontested on the Republican side.

I realize that there are crossover votes by Republican voters who want to vote for whoever they consider the weaker Democratic candidate. But it's likely that more independents will be voting for Clinton or Obama than for McCain. He may still win in the GE, but it won't be by 61% like Bush did in 2004. People don't show up in record numbers to vote for more of the same.

3. yes, it's really tough to know how to interpret Obama wins in open primary states

The Dems tend to favor Clinton; the "independents" and Republicans who vote in the Dem. primary strongly go for Obama. Some people like to interpret that as meaning crossover appeal and that independents and Republicans will vote for Obama in November. I probably did when Edwards was winning those groups in 2004, but partly that was because there was a lot of anecdotal evidence that independents (at least) liked Edwards, but no one knew for sure.

I am very worried about what you wrote because I suspect there has been a lot of what you described going on. That is the party of "dirty tricks" after all. And it has been clear for some time that McCain is going to be the Republican nominee, so if you're not a Dem., why not go out and interfere in Dem. primary?

7. count on it..many of us who knocked on doors compared notes at the end of the day

and it was heard over and over in SC..and they laughed about it and proudly told us..many of these were pretty poor folks..but their church was right around the corner..it is these peoples lives..in every way.

and when the minister tells them..by god they are going to do what he tells them to do!

this is happening..in many of these red states ..i would bet the farm on it!

5. Fly, I 'm in a weekly civics group - they're all voting for Hillary in Southern Florida - out of

a group of about 200 people there are 2 -5 people who admit being republicans -and this is not a democratic meeting - it's a civics group held at the library.

those people will not vote for Obama.

6. Kind Of Makes You Wonder Just How The Repukes Are Feeling Right Now!

I posted several times tonight something to the effect that maybe the D.C. Elites stepped into it AGAIN!!

We MUST stop letting them get away with this stuff! I've been kicked around too many times and there have been TOO MANY LIES! I really MUST hit the hay for now, but think I'll grab have to grab a "klonopin" to settle my nerves!
