Seriously- I do love Keith (some of you may remember when I stalked him last summer and got a photo with him...) but I can't watch him anymore.

I haven't chosen a candidate since John dropped out, and since I'm in California and voted for John on super Tuesday anyway, I don't really have to choose at this point. I try and I try but I can't get behind either of the candidates we have left to choose from.

But I am just appalled at the vitriol he sends out about Clinton every day on his show. Knowing how popular he is here, I'm wondering if you all think he is fueling the hatred against her. I think he is certainly giving the Hillary haters their talking points.

He is helping to tear our party apart. Honestly, I think he could report his stories without the blatant hatred. Every night lately about 3/4 of his show is devoted to trashing Hillary.

Thoughts?

1. I think the Spitzer and Ferraro stories are the big defining stories at
the moment.

I admire KO's wit and intelligence.

I like Jim Lehrer's interviews better. For many years, Lehrer has been a kind of champion for me regarding public figures.

Also enjoy Diane Rehm on NPR.

2. well, I didn't watch it tonight but apparantly tomorrow night will be a Special Comment
to trash Clinton.

I got very pissed last night when he brought up the fact that Spitzer was a superdelegate pledged to Clinton- as if that had anything to do with anything.

3. The New York TIMES actually, ran a piece on that today.
State organizations support our candidates no matter which state it is.

They're connected by many things at several levels, including fundraising.

I won't be able to catch Keith tomorrow. We're doing a book inventory.

8. To me the big defining story
was that we lost eight troops in one day. It got hardly a mention.

10. Very good point.
I'm inclined to agree, too. The media didn't do their jobs in 2000-2004 and they pretty much aren't doing it now either.

a left wing version of Sean Hannity. I would like a "real " journalist with no bias. KJO has a lot of bias and zero credibility . He jumped the shark long ago.

11. The cable news folks pay commentators to express their views.
Olbermann does that. Pretty well, in fact.

Keith has never claimed to be a reporter. He is a commentator.
As far as his treatment of John Edwards, Olbermann gave Edwards more face time on his program than just about any such program.

I believe the last time Edwards was on Countdown, was a few days before the SC primary.

7. I can't even watch him anymore
His program is like a paid political ad for Obama. He used to highlight the ways in which Bush and Co. are dismantling this country and the Constitution. He used to talk about the ever escalating death count in the war. But now he has joined the hordes who are cramming BO down our throats. It's sickening.

For the record, I don't like HRC or BO, but damn! His vitriol is way, way over the top.

I never would have thought six months ago I'd drop MoveOn.org and Keith Olbermann. I hate this new world order.

9. I understand your distress, and I watch as more and more people fall off the political
bandwagon, and even stop voting.

That is exactly what the powerful want to see happen. The fewer the people in the process, the more control the powerful keep.

Until the powerful politicians start to fear the voters, they will continue with their ways.....I wouldn't expect that they would change.

Experience is the best teacher. And as far as KO and his program goes, if he stops winning the share of viewers in his time slot, then he will be gone.

KO is using the news of the day for his commentary, and right now Bush and CO. are not making the news. Although KO did comment on W's horrible singing of the horrible song the other night.

12. BushCo's not making any news.....?
Our country's swirling down the toilet right now because of BushCo. The war and the economy ?

KO needs to shut his piehole, stop being influenced by his little twinkie Obamagirlfriend, stay nonpartisan and help save our country from further destruction.

He's just adding to the division of our party by pitting supporters against each other. He should stick with the issues of the day, not the mudslinging of dirty politics.....which both sides are guilty of thankyouverymuch :D

I think he's just continuing his war against Fox News, who's owner is a Hillary supporter and fundraiser.

I'm done with MSNBC, but mostly because of that little whiner Andrea Mitchell, and Chris Matthews' very disturbing comments such as "Obama sends a tingle up my leg" and "McCain will look old against the adonis body of Obama in the debates". Euwwwww.

the dems & the repukes will steal the election if they have to to remain in power. that is proven fact. i want to know when i cast my vote, that it is even counted. when i talk to people, as many as i know have voted dem, the repukes always win. WTF??? the dems will be doing it too as soon as they get their act together. neither party cares about the middle class or the poor. prove me wrong on this ... please!

and one remaining candidate is bad.

I think you know better than that.

On the topic of political commentary, Olbermann is paid to express his opinion in commentary sections of his program.

That's how it works.

I think you know that, too.

21. I was horrified tonight by Keith. This level of vitriol should be directed at the BFEE
NOT a Democrat.

What happens to people when they get hit by the BAM! They seem to lose their senses. Throwing Democratic heroes under the bus...tingles crawling up legs from hearing empty rhetoric...finding racism in every word and deed. The whining, the attacks, the blindness.

I'm just dumbstruck.

23. Honestly, Beaverhausen. I think you're being way too severe in your
judgment.

Hillary Clinton's campaign has provided the talking points on racism in this campaign. Olbermann's column/media spot reflects the view of many.

I believe you need to give a well-written piece a fair hearing:

24. You are entitled to your opinion
I'm entitled to mine. Like I said, I don't support either candidate and quite honestly Obama has so far not proven TO ME that he deserves the adoration he gets from others. I have seen no leadership from him in his time in the senate. I honestly don't see why he makes everyone think he can accomplish what needs to be done. We need a fighter- John Edwards was a fighter and so far I think Hillary is far more of a fighter than Obama.

I started this thread because I was fed up with seeing Olbermann trash a fellow democrat and, knowing his influence (one of the things I managed to say to him when I met him, tongue-tied and stammering, was to remind him how important his show is to so many of us) why he chooses to further divide us. Hillary has the support of nearly half of all democrats, so trashing her the way he is isn't really a good thing for us.

Again, just my opinion.

I have to say, the new Rolling Stone magazine arrived today. The picture on the cover, with Obama all but wearing a halo, freaks me out.

Olbermann's piece was excellent yesterday.

If you follow the reaction to it on the blogs and in the media, you'll see what I mean.

That was some fine and sturdy analysis yesterday.
