As Dean bears down on the Yucatan, my thoughts are with some of those people who are about to experience the impact of a Category 5 storm.
I realize they know it's on its way and I hope they can somehow keep themselves and their children safe.
Those folks are our neighbors. And despite the Bush administration negligence and arrogance, they'll be our neighbors for the rest of our lives, long after historians have written off Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, and the rest of them.
I believe our next president -- that nice Mr. Edwards from Carolina -- will establish far better relations with our neighbors to the south. And elsewhere. We have a responsibiity to people who suffer after being struck by hurricanes, even if George W. Bush isn't man enough to realize that. You can't be a decent world leader if your heart has atrophied.
