I was so moved by Obama's speech today that tears ran down my cheeks,
snot ran down my lip, drool dribbled down my chin, pee ran down both legs, gooey poo filled up my pants, my lunch crawled up my throat, and my heaving heart blew earwax out of my ears.

Now I'm so dehydrated I'm glued to my seat and can't get up.

Please, I beg you, someone get me a tall pitcher of kool-aid! :spray:

N.B.: I posted these words in a thread full of Obamanoids gushing about their melting into an emotional puddle after just reading the *text* of Obama's speech. Needless to say, it attracted nothing but "Ignored"s.

1. LOL!
I only saw/heard a small bit of the speech, then had to leave for work.

On the way, I heard stephanie miller and her listeners orgasming about this damn speech. I'm sure it was good- he does give good speeches - but this is beyond the pale.

2. Seabiscuit, I watched it, and it really changed my feelings about Obama.

It was a GREAT speech, from his heart - and very courageous. For the first time, I saw real leadership and substance in this man. I promise I won't come in here to proselytize :spank:

This morning, I was close to joining up with the team. Then I saw Hillary speaking so knowledgeably about the economy and troop withdrawal. I'm going to sit back and watch how this plays out. But Obama gained my respect today.

14. I appreciate your take on this....
Personally, I'm having a hard time judging Obama's speech politically, as in what it says about his candidacy, does it deal effectively with the Wright controversy, how will it play in Peoria etc...

Instead, the speech simply struck me as the most honest, sincere analysis of race in American society that I've heard from a politician in decades. And I respect that.

3. Snort.
Really, snort. I haven't heard it.....what did I miss? My Bush loving Mom and I were talking earlier today and she said that this has ruined it for him. So much for that cross over appeal. But, will they listen? Pastorgate has handed to WH over to McCain but who's here will believe that?

9. Ahh Ninga, I'm sorry if I offended you.
I'm not ringing my hands, frankly, I'm done with the whole process. Either or, it doesn't matter at this point - I'm only leaning Hillary because of the issue of Healthcare and I feel she is more of a fighter. But, other than that, they are very much alike. I was getting my republican mother warmed up to Edwards (no small feat), but now, she's voting McCain because of the media coverage of Pastor Wright and she has never cared for Hillary. She's a good Christan woman, attends church herself and what she has heard has frightened her.

17. Better angels?
We were the better angels, John Edwards made us all better angels. But, any criticism at all about St. Obama and you are called a bigot and a racist. I saw three threads last night that compared HRC's Iraq vote vs. Pastor Wright and the indignation was staggering. First off, comparing apples to oranges is never a good thing, but insinuating that Hillary is a murderer for her vote (never mind the 70+ others, including Edwards, that voted for it), was beyond the pale - I thought Bush was the enemy. But when I brought up Obama voting to fund it time and time again, it was totally dismissed out of hand and even one DU'er said they would even have voted to fund. Then, on another post (it's on the front page at the moment), one that raised the question on how Obama is going to be swiftboated, Good Gawd, the poster in question was called a Hannity wanna bee, troll and freeper. The poster in question is none of these. It was insinuated to me that I was being racist just by pointing out the fact that several of Obama's advisor's have said hateful things (McClurkin and Power) and have had Obama distance himself and that all of these issues will come up if he is the nominee. I'm sick of it, I'm sick of all the toe tapping around the racist issue but it's okay to ignore and pile on the sexism.

Seabiscuits' post was funny, and I was just pointing out that Obama is going to lose big with the Pastor Wright issue. My Mom is 75 and sees color, I'm 44 and don't - never have and have had to defend where my children go to school and day care to her because it's about a 60/40 split, my Mother would rather see them go to private schools. Even if I could afford it (she'd probably would pay), I wouldn't because I don't believe that environment to be a true representation of society. My 6 year old will say "brown boy or girl", he has never heard us say black or any other description to define the African American race because to us, we are all people. To be called bigoted or racist because I question Obama's policies, I question the message vs the actions, because I haven't drank the Kool-Aid, to me is just wrong - and so many others are getting this treatment too. It's scary and delusional, Obama will be swiftboated and to ignore it and how to deal with it will only lead to President McCain. We have seen this before, they did it to a War Hero, a long serving member of the Senate, they did it to the former Vice President - they don't have to dig deep to get Obama, all they need to do is to tap into the fears of my 75 year old Mother.

4. I want to be kind to you, but I can't find it in my heart to do so. Your OP is a fundamental
disservice to your goodness.

I tried to find reason in your words, but only found mean spirited taunting.

No one held a gun to your head and made you profess allegiance to Obama.

10. How would constructive criticism of St. Obama go over in GDP ?
We have this forum to cut loose in, be silly and snarky in...geesh...give it up. Obama merely saved his ass today, and that of his little preacher "God Damn America" friend.

He ain't no JRE or MLK....he's exploited racism to save his sorry nomination. No wonder I'm leaning Hillary :silly:

15. Too late to raise the discourse in the John Edwards forum, methinks
I'm older than you :)

John is not going to be the nominee, and Barack proved to me today what a freaking fake he is.
My only hope now is Hillary, she kicks ass, literally. I'm so sick of whinny BO supporters.

Raise the discourse elsewhere. :hi:

I am not going anywhere thank you, but you may if you wish. :hi:

22. This is how Obama supporters respond to constructive criticism
They label you a "lizard brained old white woman" who is somehow afraid of the "big black man". Even tho it's been a few weeks since this was posted, it still pisses me off. If you use any form of critical thinking or criticism in regards to his political platform, Obama supporters use the same tactics as bush in his you are "either with us or against us" rhetoric. Another favorite when questioning his health care agenda is "concern troll" or my length of time on DU. What is so ironic about their "concerns" is I have been fighting for health care reform since the early 90's and protesting war since the late 60's, probably longer than most of them have been out of diapers.

No one in this forum wants to hear the Obama b.s.

We come here to escape the Obama kool aid drinkers.

Why don't you play fair and leave people on this forum alone about Obama?

7. My cable went out just before he gave the speech
...is that a sign or what? I did read it and could only think of THE reason he gave it, for that little holy hate monster Rev Wright.

John Edwards has given THIS speech for four years now, and he never made it racial, only economic injustice that knows no color or gender.

19. LOL

hysterical!

It was a good speech, from what I can tell, maybe one of the first I've heard/read of that has some legit substance...but like Catchawave said, JRE has been giving that same speech for years, only better.

I am still so confused with what we're left with! I don't want either of them! And yet I still have to vote, and it actually might count for something...ARGH! :banghead:

20. It Would Be Nice To Have A Democrat In The WH.... I Just Don't Know
WHO that would be. I'm not leaning toward anyone myself and perhaps that's "unpatriotic" to some, but having been in the trenches for many a year, this time around I simply feel like I'm out in "left" field somewhere and I'm watching this country going Ga-Ga for a nominee for POTUS! Seems like too much Adulation to me, for either one of our candidates, and those supporting "their" candidate do NOTHING but fight and snarl back and forth at each other.

It's very difficult for me to get on ANY band-wagon where the people are showing nothing more than their asses. This country has lost so much of it's luster and all I see it more sniping.

I just have lost ALL TRUST and ALL HOPE! My real wish is that these feelings will be shown to be completely wrong, and that there could be some REALITY brought back into this very important exercise in Democracy!

I just haven't seen much Democracy for so long, and I don't think much will change with either one as POTUS! As I said... my wish is that I'm wrong!

it made me hurt to laugh.:D
As far as "the speech on race" goes...I think I would have had a better and higher opinion of obama if he had given it during the Jena 6 thing or Katrina.
Of course that didn't serve HIS needs....so...
which brings me back to exactly the problem I have with obama.
