Planted a thought for Edwards today
When I walked into the shoe repair place today, there was a political conversation going--mostly about Obama. Even though the two had different ideas, the conversation was quite friendly (unlike DU, I might add.)

When I was asked if I was voting for Obama, I truthfully said, "No", and when the questions continued, I said I was going to write in Edwards. Both of them quickly said they liked him, and we shook hands all around.

The shoe repair guy said he was going to exercise his right to not vote at all. When I asked him to consider going ahead to his voting place, and writing in Edwards, he was very thoughtful and said, "I hadn't thought of that, and I think that is a very good idea."

Not a big event, as things go, but it was good to find that there were others who are disappointed in small-town USA.

Oh, yes, and BTW, the one who said he would go ahead and vote by writing in Edwards.... he voting for * twice. So, yes, Edwards had WIDE appeal!

2. Hey bobbo -
Thought you may enjoy this:

April 14
Independent voter will stay away from polls this time around

I am an Independent voter. I have been voting for about 60 years. However, I would have voted for a Democrat this presidential year.

But the candidate who I thought would be a great president dropped out. That candidate was John Edwards. He appeared to be a good family man and had nothing in his past that would be detrimental to his candidacy.

This means that I will abstain from voting for any of the candidates for president. As far as I am concerned by studying their past deeds, they would not make great presidents.

Another thing; where are the media reports on the past performances of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain?

If you do research on them like I did, you will find their past deeds abhorrent.

3. I'm glad he would have voted for Edwards, but for all the wrong reasons.
We have so much re-education to do!

Here were the REAL reasons to vote for Edwards, not just that there was no evidence of marital infidelity with him:

1. He put us little folk first.

2. He wanted everyone to have good health care, and was willing to fight for it, to the point of alienating Congress.

3. He saw the death of our nation because of corporations, and was fighting against that Fascism by promising to take the corporations out of health care, to restore our media and take it out of corporate hands, and fighting the greed in other corporations.

I'm sure there are other good reasons, and that we would do well to make us a nice, long list.

Yes, it's great that he and Elizabeth have a strong marriage. And, I think very highly of Elizabeth. But, as far as our nation goes, that is far down the list of reasons to vote for him/them.

4. That's What I'm Doing And So Are Many Of My Fellow Floridians!!
He really had a LOT of support and many of us will STILL exercise our constitutional right to vote for the person we BELIEVE would make the very best representative and POTUS!!

Of course there are those who say it will hurt the Democrats, but I say the Democrats are doing a much better job of it than I ever could!

And yes, I AM BITTER, even though I'm not am Obama supporter!

6. "but I say the Democrats are doing a much better job of it than I ever could!"
That is exactly it.

The party is dying of self-inflicted wounds.

9. In '04, a very fine DUer was trying to get people here to look at this split
in the party... to discuss it in a way that we could arrive at some helpful conclusions.

But, of course, he got run off, and here we are.

It's too late.

The party has imploded.

We're only going to continue to self-destruct.

That's why I'm now only concentrating on poverty.

11. I'm With You There, But The Environment & Animals Rights Are Still
issues I'm involved with. I've become very energy efficient and my husband is getting a lot more left-overs than ever before!!! And if any food isn't eaten here, there are plenty of animals around my home that are happy to have it. There's a little wooded area behind my house that I can walk to so that's where it goes.

I also feed my squirrels every day, but lots of blue-jays scoop down for their share. At least I'm doing SOMETHING! Peanuts cost less than bread these days!!!

10. What Do You Mean "Too Late?" Are You Saying You're Sitting Out
the WHOLE Primary Process? Since Florida screwed up it doesn't matter much to me, I've been sitting out for quite some time now. The only vote I will be casting is in November and I've decided to stick with Edwards. I have tried and tried to "make" myself get behind Clinton or Obama, but I don't think they're enough close pins to put on my nose to vote for either.

I don't like feeling this way and I know many say I'm throwing my vote away, but I'm very disgusted with almost EVERYONE in D.C. and don't like how many of our leaders have ignored us for so long.

13. I enjoy playing online games
I like pinochle, spades, canasta, gin, etc.
In some of the games, I am in leagues.
Invariably, in the community forums, the discussions turn political.
In the game room lobbies and in the forums...most of the political talk centers on people that will NOT vote for obama and the reasons why.
It is RAMPANT.
I used to try to correct the lies that are being told...but, I don't anymore.
You can't stop a train going full speed ahead.
IF obama gets the nomination...I fully expect that train to pick up quite a bit of speed.
I miss John.
In fact, when I mention Edwards to people that ARE NOT political junkies--online and offline--the majority of people (Democrat OR Republican) regret that he isn't running.
Very few are completely happy with any of the choices...outside of political junkies. The rest of America is pretty ambivalent and would gladly be able to cast a vote for Edwards at this point in time.
