I voted for John Edwards today, and it felt right.
I went to my surprisingly empty polling place a couple of hours ago, and warily walked up to the electronic machine (with no paper trail whatsoever, that's going to be awesome in November) wondering if writing in a candidate was going to be an option. I was fully prepared to pitch a huge fit and ask for a paper ballot if I had to...but I didn't have to, it was super easy to do. I know it didn't make a difference, but I felt good about it. I really truly don't care which one of them wins, they'll get my vote in November. But its so close, and I almost didn't feel right helping to swing it one way or the other when I really don't care.

Plus, we just found out we're going to be having a baby (holy crap! is still my reaction) and somehow that made voting for the candidate that would have been best for my child even more important. On a side note, yes, I'm pretty much freaking out about being pregnant, this will be the first kid for me and the hubby, and we're excited, but definitely scared. We only just found out at the end of last week, and I'm only 7 weeks so far, so it's still early and doesn't even seem real yet...

2. Thanks for sticking with John.
And blessings to your family.

My oldest is 26 and my youngest is 10.

It's funny, I had a dream right before waking up today that there was a new baby on the way. Thank goodness it wasn't mine, I've had enough!

Have fun! There is nothing more challenging or more wonderful than raising a child.

3. Congrats iris5426!!!!!!!
Have two myself, the last was born in 2005 (was 41 when she was born - so two is plenty for us) and let me tell you, it is scary, wonderful and awe inspiring all at the same time. It really won't hit you until you feel the baby move, until then, it doesn't feel real unless the weight gain and all the other stuff hit you hard. Congrats, and all the best to you and hubby. Please feel free to email me to ask any questions, I know that may sound presumptuous, but if I can help in any way, let me know. I thought I was a pro when I got pregnant with Emma, but every pregnancy is different. Here are my babies: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39453333@N00/1820237016/

And voting for Edwards.... GO Baby GO! :applause: I'm doing the same here in NC and know how you feel.

4. Awww your kids are adorable!!
And thanks for the offer, I just might take you up on it, I need all the advice I can get! So far I have no signs, no morning sickness or weird smelling skills or giant boobs or anything...so it definitely doesn't feel real, but 2 home tests and a test by the midwife confirmed it!

8. CONGRATULATIONS!
That's wonderful news!

BTW, I'm making this prediction here in public: if this presidential election gets stolen, as the last two did, PA will be the scene of the crime, thanks to your electronic voting machines with no paper trail.

9. Best wishes for you and the baby, Iris!
I hope that in the years to come, you can tell your baby that the first thing you did to protect his/her future was to vote for a man who would again make the US to a great and democratic nation. You have lit a candle in the darkness by voting for Edwards. Bless your heart, and all the best to you, your husband, and the new baby.

11. Thanks iris. I voted back in Feb. and it was right after Edwards
suspended his campaign. But I voted for him anyways. It also felt like the right thing to do. Congrats on your new arrival.... Hopefully the new change in your family will be mirrored with new change in our country.

12. Congrats iris !!!
That's unofficially two votes for Edwards

I voted for JRE in Virginia (Feb12) and it really did feel good. When the screen prompted "Are you sure you want to vote for John Edwards?".....I hit the Yes button with my fist. Felt so good :D

13. Good For You... I Voted Way Back In Florida.... Seems Like YEARS AGO, But
MY conscience and what I believe in are VERY important to me now! What has happened during this election is absolutely SCARING me to death! This Republic seems to have lost it's SOUL!!

Thanks again for THE VOTE, I'll be with John in November!! I will add ONE caveat, IF it looks as if McCain is WAAAAAY ahead I may have to go with the Democratic nominee, but it's more likely I won't. What I've seen from almost EVERY SINGLE Representative AND Senator has irked me to no end. I feel a copious amount of shame for what so many have let this country become!
