For those of you who don't know, Ed Fallon was a supporter of John Edwards in Iowa. He wasn't a staffer in the campaign but I believe he acted in a consultative position. Ed was a state representative in Iowa prior to running for the Democratic nomination for governor. Ed lost the primary and proceeded to throw his support to the winner, Chet Culver. Ed is just that kind of guy. He has no bitterness...he just wants what is best for our country.
Ed didn't tell me the details of his private conversation with John but he did say that it seemed John was enjoying his break from politics. Both Ed and I discussed how we hope this break doesn't last too long because John had some of the best policy proposals to bring about the change that we need in our country.
Ed Fallon is now running for the 3rd congressional seat in Iowa that is held by Leonard Boswell. (Boswell endorsed Clinton in the Iowa caucus.) I am posting this here because as John Edwards supporters, you care deeply about the same issues that are important to Ed Fallon.
Ed is getting crushed by Boswell when it comes to money. His support comes totally from our grassroots efforts. He really could use the support of all progressive Iowans, even if you don't live in the 3rd congressional district. For that matter, Ed could use the support of progressive Democrats across the country. Ed is not a party insider. He doesn't have endorsements from high level party officials. He doesn't play their games and they are making him pay the price. Yet, he is considered a serious challenger to Boswell because the insiders know that Ed has earned the respect of many because of how he runs his campaigns and lives his life. Boswell is afraid. The insiders are afraid. And they should be. We say no to the status quo!
Unlike Boswell, Ed does NOT accept money from lobbyists or PACs. He never has. He is probably the purest politician I know. When Ed says he supports efforts to combat global warming, you can trust him because he lives this way. It's not just words with Ed. When he says it is important to support our local economy, you can trust him because he only shops and dines locally. Ed Fallon walks the walk. We need more representatives like him in the US Congress.
Any nickel or dime you can spare would be greatly appreciated by Ed's campaign. It is nickels and dimes that are funding his campaign. He needs us as much as we need him. Below is a link to his website which has a link to contribute.
Thanks everyone!
