50 Drum soldiers deploy to Iraq

About 50 soldiers from the 63rd Ordnance Battalion will deploy Monday from Fort Drum, N.Y., to Iraq.

The soldiers will serve a 15-month tour south of Baghdad and they will support the 10th Mountain Division when it assumes command of Multi-National Division-Center. The division is scheduled to take over from the 3rd Infantry Division in the coming weeks.

During its deployment, the battalion will assume command of five joint-service explosive ordnance disposal companies. This is the 63rd’s fourth deployment to support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
