GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The arrival of the first unmanned aircraft system to patrol the border between North Dakota and Canada has been postponed against because of bad weather.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say the Predator B drone took off Friday morning from Arizona but was forced to land because of greater turbulence than expected on its flight path to North Dakota.
The landing at the Grand Forks Air Force base has not yet been rescheduled.
The Predator weighs 5 tons, has a 66-foot wingspan and can fly undetected at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet. It will be equipped with sensors and radar.
