Panel convicts, sentences airman at Academy

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — An airman stationed at the Air Force Academy has been convicted and sentenced for wrongful sexual contact, indecent acts and other violations.

Academy officials say Airman 1st Class Derick Thompson of the 10th Medical Support Squadron was convicted during a general court-martial Friday. Other violations he was convicted of were assault consummated by battery, dereliction of duty for providing alcohol to minors, using a government vehicle for personal use and failure to obey a lawful order.

A panel of military officers sentenced Thompson to a reduction of rank, six months in jail and a bad-conduct discharge from the service.
