President-elect Barack Obama has named several more of his intended appointees for top Pentagon jobs.
Pentagon veterans William Lynn and Michèle Flournoy will fill the deputy defense secretary and defense undersecretary for policy posts, the presidential transition office said in a Jan. 8 statement.
Flournoy is co-chair of Obama’s Defense Department transition team.
Former Air Force comptroller Robert Hale is tapped to become the Pentagon’s next comptroller, while and New York lawyer and former U.S. prosecutor Jeh Johnson has been named to be DoD general counsel.
“Together with Secretary (Robert) Gates and our military, we will work to responsibly end the war in Iraq, defeat al-Qaida and the Taliban, and renew America’s strength and standing in the world. I am honored that they have joined me in this mission, and I trust that they will serve the American people well,” Obama said in the statement.
