GRAND FORKS, N.D. — The North Dakota National Guard is holding a send-off ceremony for soldiers heading to Afghanistan.

The Sunday event at the Grand Forks Armory Complex is for 40 soldiers with the 188th Air Defense Artillery who will be deployed for a year.

Gov. John Hoeven, Guard commander David Sprynczynatyk and others are to speak to the soldiers.

The soldiers are expected to depart in early February. They will go to Fort Hood, Texas, before heading to Afghanistan.
