Guard tops recruiting goal by 43 percent

All three Army components exceeded their recruiting goals for December, the Defense Department announced Jan. 12, with a flood of recruits pushing the Army National Guard 43 percent over its goal.

The National Guard recruited 6,607 new soldiers. The goal was 4,625.

The Army reported 860 accessions, 115 percent of the goal of 750.

Also beating its goal for the month was the Army Reserve, bringing in 3,335 new soldiers, 112 percent of the goal of 2,973.
