GE to become Army Reserve employer partner
GE to become Army Reserve employer partner
Staff report
Posted : Thursday Jan 15, 2009 11:23:14 EST

The Army Reserve is adding another national company to its employer partnership program. General Electric will be the latest company to join the program, which already boasts more than 100 participants.

The initiative is designed to develop employer partnerships in key areas such as law enforcement, trucking and health care, and also is an effort to gain support from companies that employ Reserve soldiers.

Under the agreement, GE will work with the Reserve to recruit people interested in serving in the military and working for the company. The program was launched April 14 when the Reserve signed agreements with Inova Health System and the American Trucking Association.

The agreement with GE is expected be signed at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at the Pentagon. Lt. Gen. Jack Stultz, chief of the Army Reserve, and Francis X. Taylor, a retired brigadier general and vice president and chief security officer for GE, will attend the event. Other partners in the Reserve's program include Wal-Mart, the Alabama Department of Corrections, BAE Systems, Continental Airlines Inc., IBM, Kmart, ManTech International Corporation, the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department, Rolls-Royce, Sears Holdings Corporation and Vulcan Materials Company.
