Cost of AAFES diesel down nearly 65 cents in Germany
Stars and Stripes
European edition, Friday, January 16, 2009

The price of Army and Air Force Exchange Service diesel in Germany will freefall 64.9 cents a gallon Saturday to $2.523, according to an exchange news release.

It will be the first time since July 2007 that the price of diesel in Germany has dropped below $3 a gallon.

Meanwhile, AAFES gas prices in Germany will rise in line with the U.S., where prices for regular and midgrade unleaded rose 10 cents a gallon this week. The increase brings the price of regular to $1.993, and midgrade to $2.109. Premium is up 9.3 cents a gallon to $2.224.

In the United Kingdom, midgrade also rises 10 cents to $2.065, and premium climbs 9.3 cents to $2.18.

In the Netherlands, midgrade gas jumps 18.5 cents to $2.425, and premium rises 18.1 cents to $2.695. Prices for all grades of fuel in the Netherlands are at "floor," according to the exchange. "Floor" pricing is an exchange policy that is intended to prevent AAFES from losing money on fuel sales.
