Soldier charged in death of fellow soldier

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police said an Army soldier has been charged with homicide in the fatal shooting of a fellow soldier during an argument at her home near Memphis.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department said the victim, 22-year-old Torre Grady, of Atlanta, died Wednesday at the hospital after he was shot on Sunday.

The sheriff’s department has charged Charity Tate with criminal reckless homicide.

Fort Campbell spokeswoman Kelly Tyler said Tate was a specialist and Grady was a private first class, both assigned to the 86th Combat Support Hospital.

According to police, Grady was visiting Tate and her husband, Corey, when the three of them got into an argument. Detectives said Tate got a gun and pointed it at Grady, who was shot in the face.
