MALMSTROM AIR FORCE BASE, Mont. - A Malmstrom Air Force Base captain was sentenced after being found guilty of wrongful sexual contact and conduct unbecoming an officer in a court-martial held.
Capt. Adam Pitman, assigned to the 12th Missile Squadron, was sentenced to six months confinement and a dismissal from the Air Force.
Captain Pitman was charged in September 2008 with two violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice Article 120, aggravated sexual contact and committing an indecent act, and one violation of UCMJ Article 133, conduct unbecoming an officer.
"Military members must adhere to the highest standards of professionalism," said Col. Michael Fortney, the 341st Missile Wing commander here. "As such, the Air Force holds members accountable for violations of the law and Air Force directives. I have faith in our Air Force judicial system and the decisions of the court-martial jury members."
The sentence will be reviewed by the court-martial convening authority, the 20th Air Force commander. It will then be reviewed by the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.
