Looking to change your MOS
Looking to change your MOS

Thanks to the changing size and design of the Army, reclassification opportunities abound for enlisted soldiers across most career management fields.

Soldiers can use newly released in/out calls to identify the Army’s hot jobs for 2009. The calls display the manning status and reclassification opportunities in nearly 200 military occupational specialties and priority skills in the combat arms, combat support and combat service support structure of the Army.

In addition to the new in/out calls, the Army has updated the Bonus Extension and Retraining program for soldiers who re-enlist and retrain in conjunction with reclassification.

The new BEAR program features cash payments of $2,000 to $27,000 for first-term and midcareer soldiers who re-enlist, reclassify and retrain in one of 30 specialties designated as critical skills for 2009.

Last year, the Army spent $665.4 million to re-enlist 73,835 soldiers, nearly 9,000 more than the annual mission of 65,000.
