Yuma Marine faces manslaughter charge

An Arizona-based Marine has been charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a woman in Yuma, according to media reports.

Pvt. Joseph Andrew Mandel, 22, a vehicle mechanic assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 371, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, appeared in court Feb. 10, according to a report in the Yuma Sun. The woman, Kezia Clinkscales, 27, died at a local hospital Friday after being shot in her residence at the Rio Santa Fe Apartments, the Sun reported.

Mandel, whose bond was set at $147,000, is from Sugarland, Texas, the newspaper reported. He has been stationed at MCAS Yuma since 2006. His next court date is scheduled for Feb. 17.
