JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — About 500 North Carolina-based Marines are coming home this week following a tour in Iraq.

Roughly half the members of 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, are expected to return to Camp Lejeune on Tuesday, according to a 2nd Marine Division news release.

The battalion’s nearly 1,000 Marines and sailors provided security and stability operations with Iraqi security forces in Anbar province, according to the release.
