HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — After Hurricane Katrina smashed into the Gulf Coast, it seemed hard to tell at times just who was in charge.

Top Army and National Guard officials want to make sure that never happens again. That will be the topic this week at the National Guard Bureau’s National Hurricane Workshop on Hilton Head Island.

Those officials are meeting with their counterparts from the Coast Guard, Air Force, FEMA as well as emergency officials from 27 states along the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic Seaboard.

The idea is to make sure everyone is on the same page in planning for storms and recovering from them. The effort is being called “One Team, One Fight.”

1. How about they go practice in NOLA and Galveston
I hear that there is a lot that still needs doing there.
