1st Lt. Scott R. Easterling v. President Obama
Lt. Scott Calls Obama 'Usurper' President publicly.

There's a new poll over at military.com:

The Muster: Military.com's Daily Poll

Should a Soldier serve if he doesn't believe the president is legitimate?

* Yes, a Soldier takes an oath to serve the nation and President Obama was duly elected. 1st Lt. Easterling is just trying to get publicity and he should be court martialed.
* If a Soldier in good conscience does not believe the president is constitutionally eligible to serve, he should not execute his duties and is right to protest the president's orders.
* Easterling should continue to honor the dignity of his men by executing his orders as given. He should pursue other avenues to challenge the legitimacy of the president.

And the results:

* Yes, a Soldier takes an oath to serve the nation and President Obama was duly elected. 1st Lt. Easterling is just trying to get publicity and he should be court martialed. 27%
* If a Soldier in good conscience does not believe the president is constitutionally eligible to serve, he should not execute his duties and is right to protest the president's orders. 41%
* Easterling should continue to honor the dignity of his men by executing his orders as given. He should pursue other avenues to challenge the legitimacy of the president. 32%

But it seems that the US military has forgotten that its duty is to support and defend the Constitution, something they forgot about when the Patriot Act was passed!

3. It goes back to the Ramboization of the military in the 80s and the Army of One shit.
The military is not a Democracy. You want freedom of speech, etc. muster out.

4. This a BS poll
Anyone who has served in the military knows that they are to follow orders of their superiors unless said orders are illegal, I'm guessing that the 41% actually believe that the military is some kind of democracy.

But there are still 59% who believe that Easterling should do his duty as he swore to do.

5. Show the First Looie the door after making big rocks into small ones at
Ft. Leavenworth, making disrespectful remarks about your chain in command publicly is a punishable act. As a matter of fact I would call it sedition
since he did it in uniform. Anyone recall the Air Force General who made disrespectful remarks about Bill Clinton back in 93-94, he should have done some rock breaking also.

7. Agreed. I'd call it mutiny ... and I'd call it that even if Shrub were the pResident.
The notion that each and every individual in uniform is some sort of legal authority regarding what's 'legal' and what's 'illegal' is the kind of nonsense usually only heard from sophomores smoking pot. The Looie is a JAG-off.

9. This reinforces the need for major cuts in defense spendintg.
In order to keep officers like this out of a job.
