MapThe Fallen.org
Map the Fallen is a project of a Google employee named Sean Askay, in which he uses Google Earth to map the impact of war. It is dedicated to remembering each of the Coalition losses in the conflicts in Afghanistan and in the current conflict in Iraq. He has included a placemark for each of the 5,700+ soldiers who have died to date. His web page went online yesterday. He describes his work as such:

This Memorial Day I would like to share with you a personal project of mine that uses Google Earth to honor the more than 5,700 American and Coalition servicemen and women that have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have created a map for Google Earth that will connect you with each of their stories—you can see photos, learn about how they died, visit memorial websites with comments from friends and families, and explore the places they called home and where they died.

Viewing his project requires the most recent version of Google Earth, which is 5.0.11733.9347. (If you already have Google Earth installed, you can check the version in the menu Help> About..)

Peace to them and their families on this Memorial Day.
