C. Guard plane nose gear collapses, no one hurt

EAGLE, Colo. — Commercial flights into Eagle County Regional Airport in Colorado have been delayed after a Coast Guard plane's nose gear collapsed upon landing.

No injuries were reported.

Airport officials say the HU-25 Falcon jet from Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi slid 1,000 feet on the runway before stopping Tuesday. The Coast Guard says the five-person crew noticed an abnormal vibration in the nose landing gear before it collapsed. The crew deployed a drogue chute that slowed down the aircraft, which stopped about 500 feet from the end of the runway.

The Coast Guard was investigating what caused the mishap.

The Falcon fleet uses the mountain airport for high-altitude training.
