NORFOLK, Va. — Less than two weeks after going on sale, the Navy exchange has taken the new, high-performance physical training shorts off the shelf and offering full refunds due to a manufacturing problem.

The high-performance shirt is unaffected by the problem and remains on sale.

“The ‘Navy’ logo on the short is peeling off after being laundered,” said Kristine Sturkie, spokeswoman for the Navy Exchange Command in Virginia Beach. “Subsequently, the Navy Exchange has ceased the sale of the short and is making full refunds for returned shorts.”

The manufacture of the shorts, New Balance, is correcting the production process that created the problem, she said, and plans to have a revised short available in about eight weeks.

Sailors can return their shorts to any Navy Exchange. Those who purchased them online or over the phone can either return the shorts to their nearest Navy Exchange or call 800-368-4088 to arrange for a return.

1. Is a logo that falls off truly worth a refund? I think not. nt

2. Why not? You pay a ridiculous price for a logo, as opposed to a plain pair. People
who are willing to pay that price obviously want the logo. I, myself, will not pay someone to let me advertise for them, but some do.

4. Bad Printing.

The ink wasn't heated up enough to set it, from the sound of it. And any number of additives to make it stick to the material could be part of the problem. Big, BIG goof for some poor scmuck down the line, for sure.

Is New Balance printing them here or at one of it's overseas locations? That'd be interesting to find out.

6. I dunno, the AF version may be worse.
Fabrics and cuts from the 70's. For exercise. And they spent several years designing it. I think that the USAF Uniform Board is actually a testing ground for experimental psychotropic pharmacuticals. It would explain so much....

7. I read an an article...
the other day about how ACU digital got picked over it's "competitors." It did not give me a warm fuzzy. This may be the same process.

I want MULTICAM!

8. I just want practical, utilitarian uniforms not designed...
by some goober only concerned about how they look in a formation.

That may be too much to ask.

9. Logos on a PT shorts? Why the hell do you need a logo on you PT shorts?
I guess I'm getting old fashioned now. How about a white T-Shirt and Blue shorts, no logos, no stripes. Of course the DoD shuns anything simple and reasonable.
