Poland: 1st U.S. troops to set up base in March

WARSAW, Poland — The Polish defense minister says that a U.S. Patriot missile base manned by 100 soldiers will be set up in Poland in March.

The announcement on Saturday by Bogdan Klich comes a day after U.S. and Polish officials signed a deal regulating the stationing of American troops and military equipment in the eastern European country.

That step was a prerequisite for the deployment of the U.S. Patriot missiles, which will be used to train the Polish military. Poland is a member of NATO.
