If you have an ingenious way to save the Air Force money, it could be worth up to $10,000.
Just ask Staff Sgt. William Hoessler of Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark.
The maintainer received the highest award possible from the Innovation Development Through Employee Awareness program for his idea of replacing components in aileron control wheels on C-130 Hercules aircraft. Hoessler’s procedure calls for replacement of a switch within an aileron control wheel, rather than the installation of a new wheel.
Hoessler’s $10,000 reward is a good deal for the Air Force, which stands to save more than $230,000 by implementing his idea.
For more information about the IDEA program, go to the “Air Force Links” section of the Air Force Portal Web page, scroll down to the “Transformation Links” section, and select “AF IDEA Program” from the drop-down menu.
