(CA) Governor to be on hand for veterans program kickoff

SAN DIEGO — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will be on the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum on Thursday morning to help kick off Operation Welcome Home, a statewide program to assist veterans returning from combat.

The announcement is scheduled for 10 a.m., and the public is invited.

The program, operated in cooperation with the California Department of Veterans Affairs, is designed to help an estimated 30,000 veterans who come back to the state every year after combat duty.
