Hello Everyone,

Phil and I were discussing shortly after President Ford's death, how the flag was flown at half mast for a man who pardoned Nixon, but hadn't been lowered a single day for the over 3,000 of our military who have been killed in action. It seemed like the least we could do since there seems to be no stomach for ending this conflict. I wrote to Kerry and got back what can only be described as a "Form Letter" , & didn't even get that from Kennedy.

1. There is a house on a main street in the community which I live doing just that

These people have had their flag at half-staff since 2003 when bu$h illegally attacked a sovereign nation wasting the lives of American and Iraqi. They were confronted about but the flag still flies to this day at half-staff

3. I wanted to fly my flag upside down after the 2004 Selection, but my wife wouldn't let me.

So, instead, I just threw it in the trash, since it didn't mean anything to me anymore.

4. That is so sad

Last Memorial Day we went to the service at our boat club and the people read off the five names of the club members who had died over the year. They then looked up and asked if they had forgotten anyone. We were just sick. How could they forget the soldiers? All of them!! We went back to the boat and put our peace flag 45 feet up the mast and then put Old Glory beneath it. Oh my god, we had so many complaints about how wrong it was to put anything above the US flag. Well my boat partner said it was equally wrong to lie us into war and kill with ruthless disregard. Several people did not speak to us all season but we decided so what. Your wife has a point that some will hold a grudge and if you have to live there it can make life hard. Long story short we are with you! Peace on earth, Kim

5. Technically, an upside-down flag is a sign of distress. If I had done that...

then anyone... cops or "concerned" neighbors could have busted down my door on the pretense that they thought someone was signaling that they needed rescuing inside my house.

6. I knew it was a sign of distress but I thought it meant national

distress. Which in this case is totally true. Your scenario is much worse even though the Patriot Act invites them in for tea even when you are out. I will keep the distress issue in mind next time we decide to get creative. Peace, Kim

7. When a soldier from Maine dies in this illegal conflict the state flies the flag at half mast.

Guess it is an individual state thing.
