Evacuated combat soldiers to get rehab pay
Staff report

Soldiers who were evacuated from Iraq and Afghanistan in October and November will receive their Combat-Related Injury Rehabilitation Pay in time for the holidays.

Thanks to a recent collaborative effort by the Human Resources Command and Defense Finance and Accounting Service, wounded soldiers will not have to wait the normal 30 days for their combat injury pay.

The money will be paid during the first month of eligibility.

The special pay, called CIP, was established in 2006 to offset the loss of Hostile Fire Pay, Hazardous Duty Pay and Imminent Danger Pay when a soldier is evacuated from a combat zone.

The CIP benefit equals $430 per month, according to data provided by the Human Resources Command.
