NORFOLK, Va. — A Navy petty officer has been charged with wearing ribbons and medals he didn’t earn, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Dontae Tazewell, a hospital corpsman assigned to a Yorktown medical clinic, is charged with one count of making a false official statement, eight counts of forging documents related to the insignia and 11 counts of wearing unauthorized badges or medals.

Tazewell is scheduled for a court-martial Jan. 15 in Norfolk, the Navy said.

If convicted, Tazewell faces up to five years’ confinement for each count of forging documents and making a false official statement, and six months for each count of wearing unauthorized decorations. According to the Uniform Code of Military Justice, punishment also could include dishonorable discharge and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.

2. It's amazing
The military will go out of it's way to prosecute someone who wears unauthorized decorations, but they jump through every hoop they can to avoid prosecuting a murderer and war criminal, and knock the charge down to voluntary manslaughter.

Talk about misplaced priorities.

3. When do we go after Chimpie, then?

We can clearly see that in this picture, George W. Bush is wearing an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, however, on line 24 of his ARG22 National Guard discharge form, George W. Bush has NO awards listed:

4. most people in the service have more certificates of awards
than what shows up on their record, since it usually requires effort on your part to update what the "distro" in the military can't seem to do.
I'm sure yours was the same way, I know mine was.
