algore.org at the Take Back America Conference
We have a table here in the Exhibit Hall at Take Back America.
The response has been uniformly strong and enthusiastic. We've collected lots of signatures and let people know that there's Nothing the Matter with Kansas!
Picture are Admiral Loinpresser and evlbstrd.

1. Hey, you!
Great job. Wish I could be there. We'll have a table at Yearly Kos, too. Is the KC contingent going to be there? They need people to sign up for shifts. I can send you the contact information for the woman who is going to head up the efforts (although seeing as you're with the Admiral, he probably already knows all the scoop).

:hi:

YearlyKos isn't until August 2-5. What's she going to do in Chicago for the next six weeks?

We've made some great blogger contacts. This afternoon, we hope to get the Admiral on BlogTalkRadio this afternoon (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/hostpage.aspx?show_id=31322).

10. We are going to try
Edited on Fri Jun-22-07 01:33 PM by Mabus
Last year when the Admiral and I went to the conference we ended up spending a lot of time with this guy we met. Actually, we spent a lot of time with a few people and all of us became pretty good friends. He came to the conference again this year and evl and proud got the chance to meet him and our other D.C. friends too. Anyway, we just found out the he is doing a presentation at YearlyKos. His name is Alan Rosenblatt and he's the director of the Internet Advocacy Center. He'll be doing a program on the digital political scene.

Oh man, you have got to meet this guy. You will love him. We invited him to our hotel room on the last night of the conference to hang out and talk for a while. He blew my mind when he was giving us some ideas for web prescence for political candidates and advocacy issues. He also broke down how to make catchy short videos to campaign (whether issue or for a candidate) that work. His insight on everything from how to use the internet more effectively to rumors on the Hill gave me a different perspective on some issues.

The long and the short of it, for us at least, is we are going to be doing some collaboration with Alan and Jamie Chase on some websites. I knew, I just knew, that my KC friends and my DC friends would get along, I just never expected that we would have the opportunity to collaborate with them.

We want to go to YearlyKos. If they are having speakers that are of Alan's caliber that's something I don't want to miss.

11. And don't forget the candidates' forum
and that Clark, Durbin and Dean will also be there. Dean and Clark will each be giving keynote addresses. It's going to be great -- and I'd love to meet you.

12. I'd be honored to meet you
proud and evl think very highly of you and I trust their opinions. You're one of the people they talk about a lot when they're talking about their trip to D.C. earlier this year. In fact, one of the D.C. Gore people took us for a tour and out to dinner. I think they must have pointed out every place that you (and several others) said or did something. You left quite an impression (which, considering their short term memories, is phenomenal).

13. Aw, shucks! I'm flattered.

I loved meeting evl, and I had met proud in New York in April of 2006, so we already knew each other. We had a great time in NY, too.

14. Then you know how picky they can be about their friends
:eyes:

I do love them both. I thank the universe for DU. I've met so many good people because of it. Even better, I've found family on DU and in more ways than one. Classicfilmfan and I met at the very first Dean meetup here in town and became friends. I can't tell you how long we had known each other before she mentioned DU and suggested I join. I had to tell her I had signed up before she did. We've become closer friends because of our shared obsession with DU. Since 2004 I've found out that I know others who post here and live nearby. Not surprisingly, most of the people I know on DU are activists. They're the ones who are out there and involved. It's incredible. I've also met a whole new crop of friends that I've been able to hang out with like evl, proud, MuseRider, putout and petersond.

In all seriousness I do look forward to meeting you someday. I'd like you to meet my husband - Admiral Loinpresser - too. He's the first boyfriend (yes, I still refer to him as my boyfriend) I've had that loves politics as much as I do. He's a real sweetheart and he's as funny as hell.

15. I thought you and the Admiral were married, but I wasn't sure
I hear great things about him from Karen W. -- she says he's a hoot and great to work with.

I also thank the universe for DU -- I found it a few days after the heartbreaking loss in 2004 and it's changed my life. I've since expanded to posting on other sites, but DU is still my home and favorite place. I, too, have made many friends here -- both virtually and in person, especially in the KOEB. Everytime I go to a big protest I meet more and more DUers and knowing them in person makes seeing them online so much more fun and personal.

Today we had a picnic from MichiganLiberal, our big Michigan progressive site. A number of people said they had checked out DU, but don't like it as much as some of the others. I told them to try it again -- it really takes a while to figure out the forums you like and where you prefer to hang out, but it's worth the time.
