Filing Deadline Set In New Hampshire
By Eric Kleefeld - September 28, 2007, 6:36PM

Any last-minute presidential candidates now have a firm deadline to meet. New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner has selected November 2 as the filing deadline to get on the ballot for the state's primary — meaning that if Newt Gingrich or Al Gore decide to get in, they better do it before then.

It's still unclear when the actual primary will be, though. Gardner has a unique latitude among state election officers in setting the dates, and he has declined to pick that one yet so as to maintain his own leverage and head off any state trying to leapfrog over New Hampshire.

3. Two.
Both from the same person.

One on the candidate's application.
One on a check for $1,000.

2. This is the bad part of the primary leapfrogging.
Remember it's not the delegates that matter, it's the momentum.

It's hard to gain momentum with people more concerned about holiday dinner thatn NH.

If something is going to flame up for Gore08, I think it's the CA effort. It's a petition effort.

4. We've got one going here, too, in Michigan
Since our state chair refused to put Gore's name on the list of potential candidates for the primary (if we actually go through it and don't go back to the original caucus plan), we can't get his name on the ballot even if he declares. We have to gather 12,396 valid signatures by October 23. We've got about 100 volunteers around the state who started gathering signatures this past week.

6. Thanks!
Oh, yeah, we've been at it a long time. I've been involved since January.
