An Inconvenient Truth for kids?
Has anyone seen "An Inconvenient Truth" yet? My kids want to go with us to see it. Would it be appropriate for a six and nine year old to see? I'm not concerned with them understanding it because I know they will but I was afraid some of the images may be scary. What was your impression of it?

Thanks.

1. I haven't seen it, but I am *excited* to hear that your little ones want
to see it! If you can't get an opinion from someone who knows you and your kids, you might want to wait until it comes out on DVD - then you have the option of stopping it if it gets intense and talking about the things they are seeing and hearing.

2. Not scary, but it's basically a long powerpoint lecture interspersed w/
a retrospective of Gore's life. My 12-yo liked it. It might be kind of dull for a 9-yo and definitely (imo) too short on pictures and action for almost all 6-yos.

It is worth seeing. Gore explains the science of global warming very clearly. Somebody oughta make a movie that explains the whole thing in a more child-friendly format.

3. There is nothing really adult about it.
There is one scene where they show a dead person in NOLA. Other than that, it's not violent or too gory or anything. It is more like an educational movie. I found it to be extremely important in the grand scheme of things. I would let any children I had watch it if I had children... if for no other reason than to make sure there is someone around in the store to remind me to buy green as much as possible. I'd say the movie is well worth buying on DVD too.
