3. While I did not post this, I am truly saddened that Al is asking for $$ for the DCCC

The DCCC is part of why the Dem leaders have such power over the incumbents, such that the junior Congressmembers and Senators won't make waves even if "making waves" is just doing what their constituents want them to do.

I used to donate to the DCCC and to the DSCC -- but now I do not trust them at all. In my opinion they are just another way for the elite to use money to control what happens in D.C.

I wish Al would go wildly populist and tell some of the current members of the Democratic Party to go **** themselves. Al appears to be loyal to a fault here. I know we have a 2 party system and that it will be easier for progressives, populists to take over the Democratic Party than the Republican Party -- but we won't manage that if we keep propping up the people who ARE a considerable part of the problem.

This perverse political culture -- dangerously hostile to reason and knowledge -- is what enabled George W. Bush to use fear and lies to mislead our nation into the Iraq war, ignore the threat of global warming, block promising stem cell research and ignore the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

9. For the most part, I agree.

But this may not be the year to fix it or have a public fight amongst ourselves that the repugs would be able to use for fodder for their campaigns. I had been receiving these emails too but after the second or third one received from that slimeball, traitorous James Carvillian, I told them to un-subscribe me if they couldn't find legitimate Democrats to represent them. So it would be hard for me to criticize them now for doing what I asked them to do. :)

Just add this cleanup project to the growing list of concerns for 2009.
