WaPo Article: Gore's 2008 Plans May Become Clearer After Release of Book
link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/16/AR2006091600877.html

snip: 'Although saying he has no plans to run for president in 2008, former vice president Al Gore has nonetheless left the door ever so slightly ajar. It's a good bet that door will swing open a good bit wider come next May.

That is when Gore is scheduled to publish his next book. With no fanfare, he signed a few weeks ago with Penguin Press to write "The Assault on Reason."

As described by editor Scott Moyers, the book is a meditation on how "the public arena has grown more hostile to reason," and how solving problems such as global warming is impeded by a political culture with a pervasive "unwillingness to let facts drive decisions."

While that may sound abstract, both the subject matter and the timing of the release have an unmistakable subtext. In 2004, Gore cheered liberals when he lashed at President Bush for allegedly falling captive to right-wing special interests and taking flight from "fact-based analysis." If the book strikes a chord, it will produce new momentum for Gore to make another bid for the White House, presumably fueled in large part by anti-Iraq-war Democrats.'

1. I think so too
Right now, Hillary is seen as the front-runner, but how many people REALLY want her to be President? How many more people are taking a second look at Gore and wondering if the "man meets the hour"?

3. When talking to a fellow DEM
at lunch the other day, when he was lamenting there were no outstanding winners in the DEM 08 line up as of yet, I mentioned that I thought Gore would enter the race if the House or Senate was turned over to DEMs this fall. His face lit up and he said 'Wouldn't that be wonderful?'

I think Gore has more of a following than we even think. Not everyone out there knows that a run for a Gore presidency may be in the offing.

4. I agree with you, that Gore has 'more of a following than we even think'
I think that once his new book is out, next year, that once again he will be on all the talk shows, etc. and there will be much more pressure on him to answer the question, 'Will you run in '08?' He got a lot of buzz from 'An Inconvenient Truth', and that put him back in the public eye. I can only imagine what a book by the name of 'The Assault On Reason' is going to say!! I love it!!

6. I love that!
How about ObewAl Gorenobi?? Albewan KenGorebi?? ;-)

Seriously, though, while I think there are a handful of potentially good Dem candidates, Gore is hands-down, far-and-away the BEST.

It's going to be a VERY long wait to find out if he will run.

8. We need Al in the White House...
He will run if enough of us lift him up into the candidacy. He was hurt in 2000, really personally hurt, and the only way he will go through that again is if every independant and democrat out there says they want him to run.

SO... HEY AL! I WANT YOU TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT AND I'LL VOTE FOR YOU AND TELL EVERYONE I KNOW TO VOTE FOR YOU TOO!!!

9. Amen, brother.
He will run if enough of us lift him up into the candidacy.

If the draft Gore movement goes viral, he will come in. AlGore.org is a grassroots organization trying to make that happen by building Draft Gore groups across the country, using Meetup.com. If anyone reading this would like to get involved, contact me at steve@algore.org and I will help you get started.

We have added at least seven groups in the last week and have a backlog of volunteers that will give us another good bump after January 1. Together, we CAN bring Gore into the race.

"If we build it, he will come."

AlGore.org is a grassroots organization. The site and its PAC "The People, Not The Powerful 08" are not affiliated with or authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.

Jesus God, the USA needs serious serious help, as seafan put it today, we are under a Category 5 Propaganda Storm that really is blinding us!!!!
