I finally saw An Inconvenient Truth.
The man is a genius. I still cannot get that text out of my head... "Polar bears are drowning." My only suggestion for any future releases would be to add that "Human beings are drowning too."

Superb movie. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it is totally worth it. Even on my very limited budget, I made it a priority to get it as soon as I found a copy I could buy. Well worth the money. I recommend it to everyone who likes Al Gore but also to everyone who wants to live in the future. No planet = no human species. Sick planet = sick species. Very simple equations to think about for those who do not think fighting global warming is important.

Another observation: The labels are compostable. I have a compost pile as is. Perfect for me. I have always dreamed of the day when someone decided to make some of the overly abundant packaging at least compostable if not totally eco-friendly.

1. I well up in tears during the ending credits
each time I see it.

It is so powerful and Al is great throughout. He is capable, funny, smart, and human. But when it gets to the end, it is filled with so much hope and potential. What we can do from recycle, to if you believe in prayer pray that people have the courage to change, to write your congressman and if nothing comes of that then Run for Congress. And all of that with the poweful Melissa Etheridge singing in the background. How anyone can leave the movie and not believe that the power is in their hands to make a difference is beyond me.

3. Hi SCDem, see my other post about Neil Young's song.
I think it will grab you as well. It does me every time I listen.

BTW, do you live in South Carolina? If you are interested in helping to draft Gore, I would very much like to talk to you. We need good people in South Carolina. If you have any interest, would you email me at steve@algore.org ?

Happy New Year!

2. Check out the unofficial campaign song for the draft Gore movement.
Neil Young puts it out there in a way that reaches me every time I listen.
