Whoa! Al Gore during a long standing ovation when asked to run again...
"Al Gore during long standing ovation in Santa Barbara when director James Cameron asked him to please run again."

I don't know the date, I just found it on Amazon.com after I went to AlGore.com and clicked on "Assault on Reason" -- and by the way - YEAH! - Al has the new book on his website! I was waiting for it to appear.

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

1. How do you read his body language?
He looks humbled to me, but more than that I cannot say. It is a powerful image, however.

Sam

3. Thoughtful
Maybe he's thinking "Looks like I really have to do this, after all." From my mouth....to Al's ears!

4. I do agree with this. But, on the resistant part:
I expect what's being resisted is making the Decision itself. That's a package an honest person cannot open without sharing what's inside.

He will not be a 600 day candidate; so the decision package must remain unopened. It would be unfair to ask us to wait, so he has stated that we should not withhold support.

I agree. I'm not withholding support ;)

5. He looks like he is sorry that people will not let this go...tired of the
proposition...and maybe contemplative that he might just have to do it in the long run for the sake of the country and the planet. Gore is the ultimate statesman for the future of the world. He will do what he has to do to save us in the end IMHO. However, he seems to hope it is not running for president.

6. I see it as a bit uncomfortable
It's kind of hard to do what he is doing. He's running a noncampaign campaign but has to do it without looking insincere. It's hard and uncomfortable and that's what I read there. I hope he knows that there are many of us out here who understand the necessity of the way he's playing it and don't see him as insincere at all.

8. Nail on head.
This is exactly what I am thinking.

He is exemplifying an old archetype: that of humbling oneself before one's people before ascending to ruling. Showing this by word and by deed. Allowing the people to see that he is humbled that they would accept him as their leader; etc. Very Celtic or Anglo-Saxon as I recall; among other traditions.

...and this leads me on another train of thought. I am gonna go do some Joseph Cambell research and come back to this...

10. Ah, a fellow Joseph Campbell admirer
Al is walking a very archetypal path so I'm quite sure you will find plenty there.

7. Why don't they just appreciate me for the man I am?
That's how I read it.

9. I agree with all the sentiments voiced here
It is insightful. It is the story that is not happening on TV.
Therefore it is not happening. haha!

This coutnry needs serious serious help. The GOP does not have it, and they must know they don't have a prayer of winning the White House next year.

We deperately need someone who can galvanize the electorate to fundamentally change the way the USA operates. We need such massive reforms across the board.

Who can do it? Who can lead us in this hour? Who will be "the chosen one" this time? Who deserves it? who has been candid, honest, unrelenting and unrepentant and uncompromising?

Can he do the most good if he is president? Who can do the most good?

God save us from ourselves!
