Pagans in Cornwall are fighting for their right to have a say in religious education in schools.
But a council decision could lead to the continued exclusion of Pagans from the council body which advises local schools on religious matters.
Pagans want to be represented on the Cornwall Standing Advisory Committee for Religious Education (SACRE). The committee brings together teachers and church leaders from all the major religions.
But at a council meeting held yesterday in Truro members decided to recommend that no Pagan representation should be allowed.
Anthony Williams, spokesman for the Devon and Cornwall Pagan Federation, said: "The main drive for Pagan representation is on the basis that SACRE advises not just on the content of the syllabus but also anything to do with religion in schools such as when religious holidays are taken. Parents of Pagan families want to make sure that the Pagan perspective is put forward."
